Title: seat diff 01 & pre 01
Post by: Will McClard on June 19, 2006, 09:41:34 AM
I like to take my wife riding some times, but the gs is not very comfortable for the passenger. She is frightened of real speed so the gs has plenty of power and handling for what she will endure.
Corbin makes a nice seat for the pre 01 but not for 01. My question is; can I get a pre 01 take it apart and put in on my 01 seat base. Corbin attaches the cover with pop-rivets, not staples like Suzuki, so it should be an easy retro fit.
If the seats are same length and width it shouldn't be a problem. I think the front of the pre 01 is thicker but this wouldn't be a problem.
Any one have the two to compare?

I believe that answer to your question is no.  I would just take it to a custom shop.

They have a very different profile, and the pre-'01 Corbin would definately not work on a post-'01 bike or if transfered to the post '01 seat base.  You can however, send your seat to Corbin (or other seat builder) and have one made.  You best bet is to get a used post-'01 seatm and send if off to have your seat made.

Thanks

Any one have old post 01 seat, I could send off? Wouldn't want to be seatless for weeks.

What about a post 01 seat on ohhhh let's say a 1990 GS500e? Any difference? Worth attempting?
