Hey guys i just got my 05 GS500F 3 days ago and learing how to ride on it. I do have a question, when i cold start the bike it seems to lunge foward, is this normal or do i need to look at adjusting something. Thanks for the help.
1) MSF
2) Check that your clutch cable is adjusted properly. It sounds like the clutch is grabbing a little bit when you start 'er up. Also, the oil is cold and causes friction which might cause a minor pull forward, but not a lunge.
Make sure it's in Neutral when you start it.
And I'll second the MSF.
Welcome! :thumb:
Hey thats good advice,
but I heard when a bikes cold, even if youve got the clutch down, as soon as you hit first, the clutch plate may still be engaged so its a good idea to always have the front brake in, when cold and switching to first
I read this on a website somewhere.... :dunno_white:
Welcome!
What Caffine stated first and AlphaFire X5 said second.
Yep, have it in Neutral.
When cold the viscosity of the engine oil is thicker and may cause the wet clutch to grab abit.
My 05 does that when its cold especially if you have the choke on when you shift to first. :)
are you choking it? starting with choke, then geting it to 1500rpm as you start off
yea go do the msf its money well spent and then money well saved if you did somthing wrond that would have been prevented had to done it.
