It's hard to tell in those last two, but there's about 1" of room between the can and the ground...and not enouch tire to cover it. With a rider on the bike it probably will scrape at max lean, though...not too bad.
Only two of these will be made in carbon fiber...the one shown and one other...likely everything offered to the GS crowd will be made of stainless.
This is also a mock-up made of left-overs and scrap...so if you think the welding or build is ugly...bite me.
the bike needs a wash LOL
nice but how does it sound?
That looks pretty good. I like it.
What size are those headers?? They look HUGE! The GS couldn't handle headers that wide without new cams...
not sure how it sounds yet...just built it...no way to test yet. I'll have a clip up in the morning.
This bike has some headwork. Those are 54mm headers. The GS exhaust would be between 45 and 50.

Yeah, I saw the 72 rwhp thing. Freaky.
As for the GS - it is a pretty low performing engine, so the closer to stock the better, most likely. Keep us updated on eveything when the stock one gets in on Tuesday.
any one make cams for the gs
I'm going to run with what D+D thinks is cool for the GS...they run 45mm. 45mm isn't always available, though...but 47 and 50 are...so it'll likely be in that area.
Yosh used to make GS cams. You could swipe some GSXR1100/Bandit cams and carve them down...I've heard that works...
72 RWHP?!?!?!?!
HOW OMFG I want!!!!
Oh BTW....
HOLY MONKEY GONADS THAT EXHAUST IS SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Makenize, I've done fab work before on that sort of thing and let me tell you, what you did there IS INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!
+1.21 GIGAWATTS!!!!!
I think that crazy GS500 that gets brought up every now and then ( you all know what I'm talking about...GSXR 750 forks...RGV rear...funky lookin mags...) might put down similar numbers.
This is an EX...it's already got a slight displacement edge and it's a watercooled bike...it handles stress a bit better. Head's ported and polished, high comp pistons, lightened everything else, propper fuel and air = grenade waiting to happen...but it's a fun grenade.
mak,
you forgot to compress the suspension....you will bottom out much sooner with a rider and the susp compressed 2 in ft/rear :o
why so short on the ex head pipes
why not a conventional or hi mount?

I've checked...under hard breaking and lean to the right it does bottom out...but it;s not too bad. It's still just shy of scraping the peg.

I like shorter runners on low capacity systems. Low capacity systems sacrafice a bit of power in the lower range...shorter primary runners helps make up for it.

Haven't you commented already in the 6 or so threads currently active ta;ling about my exhausts?
I don't think so
you want me to?
hahaha it doesn't matter...lol
There's going to be a straight swap that mounts up like stock, then there's going to be a single side high mount, a dual high mount, then maybe this one if I can get some minor issues to clear up.
wouldn't having the can so close to the peg make your toes kinda toasty?
:dunno_white:
dude it's nearly 6" from the peg...
Center stand compatable?
Have you seen the new exhaust they are making for the Ninja 650R? It has a can mounted under the belly, like stock, but it has a little motogp style megaphone coming up right next to the swing arm. Really cool.
What's the diameter of the can?
4"
