Hi,
i have difficulties finding K&N special filter oil in my area. Can i use other brand filter oil? Or is it very special and other oils will eat my filter ? :)
And i should clean the filter with petrol first right?
Any "reuseable filter oil" stuff should work fine. I use gas to clean mine also, some say dish soap works fine, others gas. Recently I used gas to nock off the nasty stuff, then detergent to finish the job.
g'luck.

for a fiber filter like the kn fuel or diesel will work fine..but be sure to wash with dish-soap right after.
Personally, I use WD40 for oiling the filters.
Why is the dish-soap for? Is gas harmful if left to dry on a filter?
Also how much do i have to oil the filter? does it have to be soaking or not so much? How do you guys identify it is enough oiled?
fuels are corrosive to petroleum based products...like the rubber compounts used to hold the filters together.
I just give thefilter a good spray...you can't over-oil.
OK thanks everyone. :thumb:

Mak, you ever play with dirt bikes.....
Not dirt bikes with K&N's. These aren't unifilters that suck oil up like a sponge.
Anyone else use WD40 ? You sure thats a good option ? Will it also be fine to use on the Lunch box type K&N?
I have used canola oil on my cars K&N.
Less destructive on the natural cotton fibres.
K&N recommend you use a mild detergent to clean them. I'm not sure kero, diesel or petrol is a good idea?
I clean it with dish washing liquid ... and spray lemon pledge on it ... or plain pledge ... same difference ... O0
Cool.

i got the little k&n filter charger kit from walmart... it's like $10 and will clean and oil it a bunch of times
i spray the k&n filter cleaner then rinse it with water........ let it dry then use the k&n air filter lube it will last longer
