Title: Broken Sparkplug, again
Post by: Tomek on June 27, 2006, 10:35:51 AM
  This is the second time my sparkplugs have been broken off by crackheads.  This time it happened during the day where I park my bike along with about 100 other bikes.  It must have been my time again.  :2guns:

Is there some kind of housing that I can put on to protect the sparkplub from these people?

Any help greatly appreaciated as it's becoming costly to keep repairing.

Thanks.
Tom

How about making it all gross. Like putting something sticky all over it. Maybe they would get discouraged and move onto the next bike over.

hire an illegal with a shotgun to sit by your bike

without looking at it i dunno if i could come up with a great idea... maybe a piece of sheet metal with unfinished edges around the spark plug.  that way they would have to reach in there to get to it, and any amount of force would mean sliced open fingers

covering it with something nasty like grease is a good idea too

well, actualy, right after I posted about covering it with gross stuff, it occured to me that plugs get realy hot, so the stuff would smoke and produce a stinch.

pour cement around plug area and insert broken glass in it.

Bring your old sparkplugs and set them on the curb behind your bike.

And, rat poison them.

Or, set them next to your installed sparkplugs.

Just take them with you.  But the rat poison idea sounds really good too.

I have seen this several over times posted on this board.  Is this a San Fran thing...  I believe the previous postes were from there too.

Yes they break off both ends and then use the glass cylinder to smoke after they have stuffed one end with steel wool or something of the like.

Yes, and yep.

The porcelan (sp) makes a good insulator (duh), and they do just as Aj has described.

Search just crackhead and you'll get all the posts regarding this phenominominom.

Most prevalent on www.BayAreaRidersForum.com (again use search).

Its in rock form and they stuff the pipe with steel wool so when they are puffing the rock doesnt come back and hit them in the back of the throat.  Damn do you want to know how to make crack too, yes I know that also.  These are just the perks of having a degree in Sociology.  :thumb:

Fairings, the crack head detourant.  If they can't see the plugs that are a lot less likely to wonder over and snap them off.  The bike parked next to mine at a bar had his done like this.  He was on the phone complaining, rightfully so, to someone that was going to come and get him.  He asked me why someone would do that, i said crackheads man, they smoke out of porcelin (SP).  He was flabergasted by that.  Mine still have plugs, probably because the fairings don't make them easily accessible.

EDIT : Fairings don't make it crackhead proof though, i have had one plug done that way, not both though.

omfg... i never knew that... i was like 'why is everyone saying to put rat poisoning on it' and 'how would putting broken plugs next to your good ones help'... i guess crack is just one of those drugs you don't see in white suburbia... i mean i'm not sheltered, like pot, shrooms, acid, coke, e, whatever i know dozens of ppl who do them, but crack nope never seen that

so aj are you saying you have to smoke crack to get a degree in sociology?   :kiss3:

Lol no you dont although I think some of my professors did.  I took a course called Drugs and Social Policy.  Let me just say I learned more about drugs than I ever would like/need to know.

If you don't have a big enough dose of rat poison, all you are going to do is give them an even better high than usual.  So by using rat poison you are basically either:

a) will give them a heart attack
b) will give them one hell of a high (think speed)

I, *ahem*, have known people to consume rat poison in their drugs on purpose. Unless it kills them, it is just going to heighten their buzz.

Rigging it up so if they touch it they get zapped, now that might be cool..  :thumb:

Broken pieces of spark plug porcelain (ninja rocks (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ninja_rocks) can also apparently be used to break tempered glass windows (like car windows) nearly silently and effortlessly, by throwing the broken pieces at the window.  I haven't been able to find a good explanation of why it works, but it looks like it has to do with the hardness and sharpness of the bits of percelain.

I've got a whole bunch of spark plugs from my 2 strokes.  Just leave them some old ones next to the bike and maybe they will leave yours alone.

I would coat the plug wires with petroleum jelly or white lightning/bearing grease.  Heat will not affect these.  You would just have to carry a rag in your tool kit to wipe it off for needed maintenance.  When they get that on them they will probably go to another bike.
Good luck.

If they are smart enough to break off sparkplugs to use as pipes, shouldn't they be smart enough not to use crack.  Because I swear, I could never have thought of that in a million years.  Crazy crackhead.........   :dunno_white:

I know a guy...uh...who knows a guy that keeps these "ninja rocks" in my..er..his jacket when he rides,  just in case some dickhead in a cage deserves a cracked windshield.

With practice you can judge your speed good enough that all you have to do is drop it straight down and it will bounce just right.

Kinda stupid though cause insur will usually cover it free of charge.  but...still feels good...er ..I mean.. some people have no respect for property of others,  *Gosh ~a la napoleon dynamite~

BTW- Us crackheads are people too. Please stop spreading rumors that crack is free and legal in Idaho, just to get us to leave your state.  OH.. and thanks for letting me know about using ur plugs for pipes. thats cool free pipes.
