Title: going to have ago at rejetting a gs500f and need help
Post by: deathlucky on June 29, 2006, 06:44:45 PM
hi
i have a gs500f 2006 modle its my first motorcycle and i want to hot it up abit at the moment its fully stock
i went to the local shop that dose mods and they said $800 for that which is bull sh!t.

so i was thinking

K&N air filter
K&N oil filter
rejetting
ignition advancer 4-5 degree

what size are the stock jets? and what size jets would i be after? i want to keep the stock pipe.
do i really have to drill out the plugs? i dont want my dealer ship to know what i have done.
where can i find a carb diagram for the gs500f 2006 model?
dose anyone know an australian website where i could get the parts or a website that ships to australia?

thank you

Yeah but i'd make sure some one did it on the F,  because something is obviously different if they dont do ignition advancer for it.

Just be careful

QuoteK&N air filter
K&N oil filter
rejetting
ignition advancer 4-5 degree

Don't waste your money on the oil filter...stick with Wix.  And nix the advancer.

Spend the money and buy a full exhaust and a buy a jet kit for factory or equivelant.

(there will be a full GS exhaust in Mak's Kitchen before too long)

Stock jets are pilot 17.5, mid 60, main 130. New jets (and/or raising needle) depend on what kind of air filter you will get. There are three types, following in order of air flow (1-3 : lower-higher):
1. drop-in replacement for stock,
2. large oval filter and removal of air box,
3. two individual filters,

Also decide if you want to get slip on or full exhaust. I would really recommend buying new exhaust. The sound improvement is so sweet :).

When you do then we can suggest jets. Also try to search old posts, they were very helpfull for me when i needed info.

ok it looks like 20 pilots 62.5 midmains 132.5 or 135 mains.
will i need a needle?

also i have engine oil on my stock paper air filter i asked around if this is a prob and i was told it will use alot more fuel why is this?
i get 270km til reserve but now i am getting 210km so if i get a K&N air filter will i be able to clean engine oil out of it because its bound to happen again
