Dear Grammar Police,
Just in case you have not yet realized it, this is a casual Internet forum about motorcycles. It is not a scholarly journal, term paper, or a literary work of any importance. You are not being graded, and you are not my English teacher. It is simply a laid back online forum for people to hang out, post stuff, etc. Everyone should feel comfortable posting, right?
I personally find it obnoxious when someone "corrects" my spelling or grammar. You know what I mean, so why call me, or anyone else, on it? Are you trying to make them feel like a degenerate? Why do you feel the need to proove how smart you think you are? I'm not impressed.
Do you correct the speech of those around you? I hope not, because just like on here it only makes you come off as pompous and condescending. Almost no one - except maybe foreigners  - speak true, proper English. Our dialect is casual. Get over yourself.
Would a quick read through / spell check / preview hurt before posting? Of course not. But is it really that important? No, it isn't.
If you want to be all anal about your own posts, that's great. Keep on keepin' on.
And if you don't like it, you can suck my pencil. Beeyotch. :flipoff:

PS - G'head - Look it over for a typo or a spelling error, but I've got better things to do :thumb:
what chaps my butt is when people correct me when I write "your" instead of "you're"
:thumb:
oh christ. He's right though. you were talking about soup.
Well, it wasn't just that.
It's just petty, and it happens a lot. And so what if I was? He, and everyone else, knew what I meant. :dunno_white:

Ahahahah, you didn't capitalize the first letter of the sentence. Ahahahahhaa.
Sorry I could not help myself, please don't kill me.
Agreed though, except for when it's a run on after run on after run on sentence, with no punctuation, indenting, carriage returns, or any of that. That stuff makes me disregard everything they are saying instantly. ('Cause it's hard to read.)
So long as it is reasonable I don't care, but when it gets to some weird alphabet soup BS substituting letters and numbers and crap, then they need to die.
wow Phae.. I didn't realize that would piss you off so bad dude, I'm sorry.. I was just being my regular smartass-ish self.. I didn't do it to make you feel bad or anything, I just thought it was funny, cuz I like wonton soup, a lot...
my bad dude.. like I said, I'm sorry..

Prove only has one "o"! :flipoff: :icon_lol:
The only time it really bothers me is when it is impossible to read and takes longer to deceipher what the hell the person was trying to say than it took reading their message. You know the ones, who abbreviate every single little word, but do it horribly. Then there are the ones who have so many spelling errors that it actually detracts from what they are trying to say or ask.
And you're right, a lot of foreigners speak better English than a lot of Americans, even on here. MarkusN of Switzerland comes to mind, and shik in the chatroom as well. Sometimes it's just absolutely pathetic how bad it is though, and Im sure you can attest to that.
:thumb: I have horrible grammar ! :)
I think Sirinaths posts are the best though :thumb:
I agree... WHO CARES !

It was you, john. You called aj "pandy," and I've been in therapy ever since. Reading Eleanor Roosevelt and Zen books are part of the healing process. :cookoo: :icon_razz:

"Laid back" is a compound adjective modifying the noun "forum," so it should be hyphenated. :icon_twisted: :icon_mrgreen: :kiss3:

It may have been psychological, maybe. Just maybe, I was out in the field and a Staff Sergeant put mud in my cot. And maybe, just maybe, while he was sleeping, I walked over to his bed, whiped out my pee pee and urinated all over him; then stabbed him to death with HIS bayonet.
Maybe he died, clutching his chest, praying for his wife.... just maybe.
LOL i was in the Navy i got out a year ago. And if what you say is true youshould be in like levinworth serving sometime... but i if you where in Iraq they would let you get away with that with a Psy discharge... hows your medical?
Thats really funny other then the killing thing.
I have a bad herniated disc in my back.
Im not sure what happened. I know I hurt my back in highschool at a party, wrestling around
but I played 4 years of footbal, 2 years of soccer, 1 year of lacrosse, and basic training
then one day when I worked at a resturant, I went to pick up a ticket printer and I fell on the ground almost crying in pain. Went ot the doc and they did an MRI, and yeah it was a bad herniation
Word :thumb:
might you have cut off his pee pee and stuffed it down his throat before stabbing him?

IS there a elementary teacher in the house.
You American's spell loads of words wrong anyway.... ;) hehe ;)
(Just kidding!! :D)
I wouldn't correct peoples' spelling and grammar here unless it's horrible, making communication difficult, as this is a motorcycle forum.
However, if it were a political forum, and people are making arguments about how we should run our country and why, I will, as spelling and grammar is an indication of how much or how little someone understands about why the world is how it is. It's your language, and it's your job to master it.
For instance, I am someone who believes in liberty, limited government, and constitutional principles, understanding that it's best for all. I hope you do as well. The survival of our republic depends on it. If I see someone complaining for more taxes and government spending to hopefully help their lives, using horrible spelling and grammar in the process, I will pick them apart, suggesting to them that their lack of education and understanding (possibly ambition as well) is preventing them from succeeding, not a bunch of rich guys holding them down.
Hey Bill
Thats a bold statement to make. Unless you can spell you are a dumb ass and know nothing about how the world works?
My spelling and and grammer sucks....Prove to me that the next person knows more than me about how the world works just because they know where a full stop goes.
maybe i need bettera edumacation and bettera engwish skwills to find my way home after work tonight.
:cookoo:
Steve, it doesn't look to me like your spelling or grammar sucks. Don't be so hard on yourself.
yea thats what great about this site as people feel more free to post as they are not worried about being stomped on by grammer police. Come to think of it this is the only forum I have seen that has this laid back feel :thumb:
My spelling has never been that great Bill. Lucky for me there is spell check on "word"
Can't believe this thread is still here, and all because of me. Guess I'll go down in GSTwin infamy.
right after phadrus passed, o requested a few of his threads stickied. actually glad this one is/was.?cause he was right.this IS a casual forum. Not university . we still miss ya rich
Whats worse is when people don't have anything orinal to add to a conversation, so they instead rip on someone else's opinion. If you didn't have an original thought to begin with why don't you just head over to the soda machine and get yourself a big ole' bottle of shut the f*** up. :flipoff:
Crazy thread.....Title cracks me up. :icon_lol:
Still alive and well and still getting reply's.

i beleive that last bit needs more
new lines for the next
sentence
so
there is an obvious
case for self correction and education here :thumb:
and any paragraph that start with a For instance, should be completed with care. As its a "soapbox" moment and one should really not protest their brand of right vs wrong whilst making the same errors that they doth protest about :cookoo:  :D
really?.. still me from october last year?... shocking!
I strongly agree with title lol. I come here for entertainment/research. Not to practice me grammer and speeling ;)
