Title: K&N filter lost it's color after cleaning. Normal?
Post by: domas on July 01, 2006, 08:00:32 AM
Hi there,

today i washed my drop-in K&N with special air filter cleaner. After rinsing with water all that beautiful purple color just rand down the sink. Now the filter is more grayinsh than K&N red-purple.

Is this normal or i just lost half of the filtering power?  :dunno_white:

The pink/red colour is a dye added to the oil, so you can see the entire filter medium is covered.

It washes out so you can see the filter no longer contains oil.

Heh you know what i couldn't find K&N filter oil in my area. I found one for "Green filters" which are obviously green.  They are french manufactured. So guess what color is my K&N filter now  :icon_rolleyes:

Yep you guessed it. Green  :dunno_white:

Be careful...  Your filter might not be reliable anymore.  You really should use the oil that's designed for it
