Oh no! Now you have my home address! Don't come steal my GS or anything.. please!
By my math, the first night's stop would be near Savannah, GA.. I have some friends who live there, who might be able to let me crash on a sofa, but not sure. I know there's some other Georgians on here.. I could just crash in Atlanta, but I'd like to make the extra mileage..
The second 500 miles would put me somewhere near Mechanicsville, KY... which appears to be a few hundred miles south of bowling green, KY... I seem to remember hearing the name Bowling Green come up before.. if there's someone there who'd let me crash, I'd make the extra coupla hundred miles that day. Then finally, I'd need somewhere to crash the night of the ride, since I wouldn't want to ride all day, and turn around and go home.
Obviously, I'd need similar places to crash on the way home too.
I can't legally buy alcohol, but I'll put up for a six pack of your favorite beer, and some steaks for the grill... or take you n the family out to dinner at applebees, or something similar, as compensation for a sofa to crash on (Please, no families over 3 people... I'm too broke for that..). Or hell, even just a floor, I don't particularly care.
The expected date for the ride is 7/29.. so I'd probably leave Naples on 7/27, to crash in Savannah that night, then crash in KY on the night of the 28th, then be in NY for the 29th, leave the morning of the 30th, crash in KY that night, crash in savannah on the 31st, and back in Naples on the first...
If anyone can be of any help at all.. seriously, I'd appreciate it. This is kind of a spur of the moment thing, I just feel it's something I want to/need to/should do.
If nobody chimes in, I'll just get hotels.. but would rather meet some GSTwinners and get some friendly riding in.
Thanks in advance guys...
got a bed.... 25 miles N of intersection of I-40 and hwy 52 W-S NC area if ya need it
Hey Im in wilmington NC... I gotta bed for you my wayward son. :thumb:
Here's the Streets & Trips version. It routes you to Orlando instead of Tampa (saves 30 miles?) but otherwise seems to be the same. I just thought the larger, inline map would help people visualize....

My location is Bowling Green, KY (1 hour north of Nashville), but I checked out your route and you won't even pass through the state. :dunno_white: Did I miss something? I salute your planned ride, but I would caution your I-95 all-the-way choice. Even if it would add extra time, I would use I-81 if I were you. I grew up in D.C. and I've done I-95 in a cage (many times)...I wouldn't do your ride on my GS. But I would do it via I-81 on my GS. There are more trucks on I-81 than there are on I-95, but there are far fewer vehicles than on I-95.
We don't need to lose another GS rider! Good luck.

Thanks for the info Patrick.. I didn't plan the route, mapquest did. But at your suggestion, I'll pull out a real map, and see what I can figure out.
