i had 20w 50 oil in my bike and i went down the coast (speedin all the way) and my bike starte leaking oil in to the air box i checked my oil and it was on the low line so i topped it up with 15w 40 or 15w 50 im not sure at the time i idnt no i had 20w 50 in the motor should i change the oil asap or will it be right til my next service
it wont hurt the bike, better that you got the oil in there. than blow up the bike :thumb:
I asked that about my car once Ive been told it wont cause much if any trouble.. but I would go ahead and change it. I would let the filter wait until your due but swap out the oil ASAP :thumb:
it will be fine... when you change the oil, you will never drain out all the oil, thus mixing some of the old oil with the new, and I've never heard of anyone having a problem switching from their summer oil to their winter oil.
mixing oil is fine, you making your own multi grade, like 10w-40 or 10w-30, same with syn or dyno oil it can be mixed
What is important to remember when mixing oils of differing grades and makes is that they both MUST be either JASO MA or API SG specification this identifies the oil as being suitable for use with wet clutches. The use of oils without this spec` can lead to clutch problems.
In small quantities I wouldn't be concerned. Just make sure that it's the right viscosity for the engine and has the proper service classification.
Now, if you just dumped 200 gallons into a 1,000 gallon sump on a large gas turbine powerplant we'll have to talk about stratification. :icon_mrgreen:
You'll be fine. :thumb:
thats a big oil sump. and i would know
