Title: A few general questions from a newb..
Post by: gironamo on July 10, 2006, 07:02:53 AM
Hey guys,

Well I bought my 04 gs500 about two weeks ago and I'm just waiting for my MSC which is in the first weekend in Aug before I take her out on the street.  I have a couple of questions I couldn't find answers for and please remember this is only my second post and I've never ridden a bike before.  Thanks in advance!!

1)  What is the gas gas mileage city/highway of an 04?

2)  Can you install frame sliders becuase I don't see any predrilled holes?  If so, what brand would you recommend for this bike?

3)  How much Horsepower does the 04 model pack?

search NOOB

no im just joking,  Suzuki says your gas milage is 58 miles per gallon, I dont get that because in the city I never go over 3rd

2 yes you can do frame sliders, I dont know how ask someone else, becaue im a moron

3 I think that the 01+ have two horse power more the than pre 01s so I think that its about 38 bhp but if you rejett, drop a LB, and put a performace you can get up to 45 I think

If you want reall power get a turbo,  I heard the GS can push 70+ with that

oh and im not trying to be a duck at all,

but those questions are pretty easy to search for.

just make sure before you ask anything atleast give it a half hearted try at searching, or every one will make fun of you and take your girlfriend

haha tad maybe you should have done a search about using the center stand before you went and changed the oil

like tad said you can get upwards of 60 mpg, but thats driving on the highway like a normal human being.  Some peopl have done even better.  Driving around like a mad man in the twisties at WOT all the time will get you down into the high 40's.

Why do you want frame sliders?  If it's cause you're afraid of scratching the plastics because of a noob dropping or 2, frame sliders are useless.  Noob droppings scratch the engine casings, exhaust can, front turn signals and bar ends, but not so much the plastics... ask how I know.  As for sliders that would actually protect the frame incase of a real low side, there aren't any.  Yeah, there are some that mount to the fairing brackets, but they don't do anything but look cool.

221 miles on 3.8 gallons last fill up. 58mpg. Mixed highway/interstate and city riding. Running about 80mph on the interstate and 55ish in the city.

And welcome.

If you bike an F or an E (naked)?

If it is naked, you should get case guards instead.  I'm not sure you'll frind frame sliders for the GS.
