(did a search and didn't find this thread. Although I'm sure someone else has made one before)
I hadn't even thought about the handle I chose on here until someone mentioned it in chat. There are a lot of people going by "Fodder" now. I have been using it since 2001 when I didn't know anyone else using it. So I drop 650 on the end.
The 650 is the engine size of my first motorcycle. A 1980 Honda CB650 Custom. A bike I haven't owned in the five years since owning my GS. Just a coincidence really.
As for Fodder. Well i used to go back Chauffeur before 2001. But my first MMO World War II Online wouldn't allow 9 letter names. It would only allow 8. And Chauffer in French means "to warm". So i went with what I become in all new games. Cannonfodder. Now for a motorcycle forum it feels a little awkward since I'm still getting comfortable with my GS. And I really don't want to become road fodder. But I went on to run a 75 man squad in there and was known by a lot of people in there. So I had to stick with Fodder.
So where did all of your handles come from?
The main character of Berenice, by E.A. Poe.
Edit: I've been using it since 1996 or so. Yes, I've been sitting in front of a computer for that long. I'm Egaeus on Yahoo, the first Egaeus on ICQ, and I swear I got the AIM Egaeus, but apparently not, since none of my passwords work.
Second Edit: Coincidentally, it's pronounce Eh GEE Us, which is very close to "A GS." I think it was predestined.
I've been using mine since 1999 or 1998. I forget entirely how it came around, but I'm pretty sure I had the X5 on there because I thought it looked cool, and because AlphaFire is some sort of fire fighting precint in Massachustets, I think. I wanted a name that I would be able to use everywhere without modification, and through some weird logic of mine, this one fit the bill.
mine was a nickname that i have had forever plus the number on my address where i grew up in fredericksburg cause there are a lot of natedawgs out there. I have been using mine since 96 or 97 and use it for everything that i can.
Well, I like porsche's...a lot. I've had porsche4786 for other thing for a while now so I just use it for everything.
edit: almost forgot about the numbers, it's for my birthday.....
In the original counterstrike, when your name was too long it defaulted to Unnamed. I kinda liked it, and held onto it. I also use Outsidesmoke since I'm a swimmer, and for dealing with real (not internet) people I use my first initial and last name.

Am I a total nerd for knowing that? Not that I knew where you got it from but that when I first saw your name,
I was like"hmmm... from Berenice"

Yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuup
3imo, what a name.
My middle name is Emilio. My friends in high school called me Eimo. I had a closer group of friends, that I considered my boys. 5 went to Prison for murder/conspiracy.
4 of us didn't. we called ourselves the FAB 4. I was #3. Hence the name, 3imo.
I use it for everything. Halo especially. I have it tattoed on my wrist (http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f191/eimoytiana/01%20GS500E/DSCF0017.jpg) for good luck.

If you knew that, then congratulations on being the first person ever (that mentioned it). It started in high school when I mentioned that I notice a girls teeth (as opposed to other features) first. My friend steered me to Berenice. I have to say that I don't have quite that much of a fixation.... :icon_mrgreen:
The teeth! — the teeth! — they were here, and there, and everywhere, and visibly and palpably before me; long, narrow, and excessively white, with the pale lips writhing about them, as in the very moment of their first terrible development
AJ are my initials. The Gs500 are well self explanatory. And no Im not telling you what the initials stand for.
I'm usually LPcreation (for about 10 years) but something weird happened here and I couldn't use it so it turned into LPC2104.
LP = Les Paul, I've been playing a 1960 reissue Les Paul Classic since 1997
C = Creation = I was a creation of my guitar. Ghey but it sounded really cool when I was 17.
2104 = my wife's and my lucky numbers put together
My handle ... yea I been using it since ~ jan 23 1969 ... it came about when my parents wrote it on a bed of unchaffed rice with a coin (My granpa did actually ... aka he could've written anything ... but he wrote 1 of my mom's choice, one of my dad's choice and one of his choice and srinath is my dad's option ... My Grandpa called me Sridhar ... and for the longest time, he was the "grandpa that called me sridhar" ... though I officially never used it.
Anyway they then plonked me 11 days old and butt naked on that bed of grain for 5 minutes while I evidently got it all on my hair etc.
And as a Huge coinkidink - Years later in 94 I get married on 23 Jan 1994.
Its typical of a south Indian brahmin naming ceremony. 11th day or 12th day after birth. So my birth certificate is nameless ...
Cool.
Srinath.
Jake is short for Jacob, which is hebrew for "Heel Grabber". It was the name I was given at birth by my mother. My mother wanted something Biblical. My father was impressed by a John Wayne movie where the main character was called Big Jake. So they picked Jacob and started calling me Jake, Big Jake, or Mongo Looney, from Blazing Saddles. The D is the first letter of my last name.
So I chose Jake D. I'm called Jake D on all forums.
Viking/Norse name & my hockey number.

When I was in college I spent a Saturday afternoon doing the math long hand to figure out why a parsec is a parsec. And the unit of measurement of one arcsecond comes into play there. You know how sci-fi shows always use the parsec to tell distance in space, but when I looked it up a parsec was listed as 3.258 light-years with out any explanation as to why that number was chosen. I found an obscure reference that went something like "a parsec is the distance that subtends an AU at one second". Alas, I could find no definition of the word subtend anywhere. But it gave me a clue. I knew that a light year is the distance that light travels in one year. I knew that the speed of light was about 186'000 miles per second. I knew that one AU (astronomical unit) is the distance from Earth to the Sun, about 93 million miles. After making sure of the math that Saturday afternoon it turns out that one parsec (parallax second) is the radius of a circle such that the linear distance traveled on the circumference of the circle by the radial distance of one arcsecond is equal to one AU. So 1/60th of 1/60th of 1/360th of the circumference of this giant circle is one AU. Whatever the radius of that circle is becomes one parsec.
So I chose arcsecond, also it sounded cool.

Circle's Center
Circle: First object I learned to meditate on
Center: Where I eventually learned to place myself in the circle. Also the first time I truly forgot myself in meditation.
I carried it over to gaming, driving and riding because when I'm at the peak of any practice I feel the same way.
I don't know if I can real describe it unless you've meditated before. :dunno_white:

WELL, I AM A MASTER OF BLING.
Or, when I was in high school, maybe freshman year, I was just tryin to think of somethin cool, and it was hip to say bling back then, and I have absolutely no bling of any kind, so I thought it would be funny to name myself Blingmasta because I'm so obviously not. I'm either Blingmasta or Blingmasta4Ever if Blingmasta is taken.

My name is really cheesy....but since it's so old I guess I can kinda get away with it. Used to be a big weight lifter/athlete in high school and college.... some of you might know who Dorian Yates is. Six time Mr. Olympian.....so yeah, cheesy I know. Oh yeah, "Fes" is a nickname for my real first name.
Dorianfes (damn I need to change that!)

i hired a team of rocket scientists to develop my handle.
they took my first name, and worked some magic and added an underscore and duplicated it.

I'm a Camaro freak. I collect them. I restored a 1980 and built a v8 for it. I've owned a 1994, and I currently own a 1999. I've been using this handle since 1994 for just about everything.

I had to go find that video after I first saw your screenname. "Turd Ferguson. Heh. Funny name."
I've had my screenname since 1997, when I was old enough to start driving. The first car I ever drove was a 67 Mustang vert. I loved that car. Still do. Miss it. :( Currently drive a 2003 GT vert, but still use the old screenname.
Yankee = because I was born in Wisconsin and lived in the Milwaukee area till I was 27 years of age.
Punker = because I love Punk Rock, and I'm not talking about no pop stuff like Green Day or anything else you might hear on the radio.
I've been using Yankee Punker online now for about five year's to chat with Wisconsin friends since I moved to Florida to take care of my mother who had Cancer, unfortunately she had pasted aways a few years ago. I've kept her house, there's about five more years of payment's, so I am just still here in Florida for now. The up side is that I get to ride all year around!!
Well mine's fairly boring, just a play on the phonetic alphabet of my initials, PF... Papa Foxtrot
che is a spanish nickname for someone from argentina. mike is my first name, and sounds pretty american. i was born in argentina but have been living in the US since i was ten, so i kinda like the contrast between the two parts.

As far as the rest of the story.. We've all made mistakes in our lives. some worse than others. I left that lifestyle behind me ten years ago and I am not the same kid I was back then. Details will only get me in trouble, so I plead the fifth. Thats just where my name originated from.
Just take it as some punk lying online to get street credit or something.

My first car's license plate was LXZ-22J, or Lima-Xray-Zulu-Two-Two-Juliet. I started using LimaXrayZulu for various usernames, but then shortened it to just LimaXray. This was back in the day of Team Fortress Classic, so that was like what, 5 years ago or so... oh god only 5 years?!
My real name is Bob and stumbled upon this site when I stabbed some guy in a alley and assumed his identity. I guess his name was Ash and he was a man.

My last name is Feldman... My first job was at a hardware store and when my boss wrote up the work schedule, my last name looked like 'Fieldman'. After I set the record straight with my coworkers, my nickname was Fieldman for a while and eventually it evolved into 'Man of the Field'. Someone even made up a label that I added to my nametag. I decided it would make an ok screename, so that's what I've used for 6 or so years
Had been called BOSS starting freshman year of high school '98. Stuck ever since. Funny part is some people still don't know my real name. The 500 is self-explanitory
