I have a quick question I hope someone can answer. I need to know the diameter of the rear axle on the GS-500?
I need to machine a spacer for my new rear wheel but do not have the axle with me and forgot the dimension.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the dimension.
Yes Bandit 600 wheel.
Is the bandit 600 wheel a stright bolt on?
not if it needs a spacer machined....
Crap my mistak read the 1st post wrong
OK, I finished the wheel conversion on my 2006 GS500Fon Satuarday, really a pretty easy project. Use the GS cush drive, Replace the wheel bearings with GS bearing, Shorten Brake side GS spacer, modify caliper braket to position caliper correctly. The whole thing took about 1/2 a day. I mounted up a set of Metzler M-3 in a 150 rear and the chain and brake arm cleared perfect, just had to clearance the chain gaurd a little. At the same time I put on EBC HH sintered pads, EBC Prolite rotors and Braided lines.
The bike now has SM bars, woodward rear sets with a GSXR shifter, The above mentioned mods, race tech springs and emulators.
We went out Riding on Sunday and did about 300 miles and what a difference. I spend about 100 miles beding in the pads and scrubbing in the tires, then let it rip.
It handles like a new top of the line sport bike (exagerating but you get what I mean). We did some real tight twisties and I was able to lay the thing way way down and it felt perfect. The brakes were a huge improvement also much better feedback as well as stopping power.
Everything is now ready for my first track day on this bike in three weeks.
The down side of this whole thing is my friend wanted to try my bike and see how it rode so I rode his buel XB1200R, talk about something that is nimble quick turning and feels like it is on a rail. Now I am spoiled, but still love where the GS is now.
