It's... it's... no really, get it. I feel like on rails :))
As GS being my first bike, after instaling progressives and katana shock, now i know how the real bikes actualy feel like :)
I picked it up for ~30$ + 140 miles round trip.
+1 on direct bolt on, took like 20 minutes.
If you dont have it, search for one today (unless you are barely touching the ground on stock shock).
Me being 6'3'' its a paradise.
good stuff :thumb:
a shock upgrade is probly the best improvement to the gs,
every body should do it
I've thought about getting one but I'm only 5'8" and can just flatfoot with current shock. Does it make THAT big of a differeence in seat height?
Thanks
JG
I have a 30" inseam and can flat foot the GS with a Kat shock.
if you want to keep the stock height, then look for a suzuki rgv250 shock instead straight swap to the gs
Domas,
I'm half Lithuanian. Nice to see a GS in Lithuania.

WTF? I have a 29" inseam, and can either get one foot down, or the toes of both feet.
I'm still seriously considering the Kat shock upgrade. Can anyone compare the GS with a Kat shock to an SVS for me? Cuz I can sit on my buddy's SV650, and I feel pretty confident I could ride it, no problems.

The kat shock will make a big difference in seat height. I am guessing about 2 inches more. But I am surprised that you can just flat-foot with the stock spring. I am 5'5" (165cm) with average leg length (maybe 29" inseam) and could flat foot with the stock shock. I have a kat now and I made a set of longer dogbones to lower the bike so I can flat-foot it again.
HTH.

It depends on your weight how much a difference it is. I am light 65kg/145lbs so i felt a big difference in seat height, as i hardly compress the kat shock. Now i can feel the seat with my inner leg sides, before i was sitting on it like a chair :).

WTF? I'm 5'3, about 135lbs, about a 29" inseam, and am nowhere NEAR flatfooting my stock GS... what's wrong with me? *goes to measure legs, and seat height*

You are just unlucky to get a tall bike. :icon_mrgreen: Maybe my inseam is 30"? I never had it measured directly and I am just going by the jeans I buy and I remember that 30 is a wee bit long and 28 is a wee bit short. And I notice that in the last few years, the jeans sizing has been notorious at least in the waist measurement in the sense that it actually fits wider waist than the label says (so 29" label would be way loose on my almost 30" waist). Anyway, I am about your weight (140). Maybe a few other factors come in as well. Maybe my spring was set softer, or maybe you have the newer GS with wider seat (mine's 89), or my tires were lower profile, or my stock spring was almost shot (it was, which was why I changed it), or maybe I wear heels.

Liberals.. proof that common sense isn't so common - Just for you OMW
Actually, I don't quite understand that quote. Do you mean that liberals have common sense or liberals have no common sense? No offense will be taken either way, of course.
Cheers,

Hmm.. my bike's an '02.. I didn't account for a wider seat...
I've never actually measured my inseam either, I also go by the fact that the 30x30s I wear are just a little too long. Which is sad, cuz that means I'm bigger around than I am tall.
As for the liberals thing, it was a joke for OMW, implying that liberals have no common sense. At least, on some things, I don't feel they do. Such as gun control. Try to take my guns. Try.
*EDIT*
Didn't see the thing about heels.. :cookoo:
I actually wear workboots with a sole that adds about 1" to my overall height. I can still ride in tennis shoes (haven't ridden, but have sat on her, and think I could do it)
