Option 1: Yes, I'm making a special point of it. Solidarity!
Option 2: Never heard of this, don't care at all.
Option 3: I'll ride in on Wednesday if the weather forecast is good.
Option 4: Riding and work don't mix, I don't think my insurance covers it.

If my Lunch box filter is her by then.... :thumb:
I'm in. Try to ride to work as often as I can. Have the afternoon booked off, but there's "Work storm clouds" on the horizon. May miss the ride after lunch. Drat.
Riding to work for me would be to start the bike, put it on the driveway, and then park it. So yes i am!
I try to ride every day weather permitting. So....yes I will be riding Wednesday.
The only days i haven't ridden to work, are the days my bike wouldn't start.
Yup, my bike is my only mode of transportation
Yep... Im in. I try to ride every chance I get. I will definitely will ride on WED!!!! 8)
Well that sucks, I,m on a break from work until July 31st, but I'll go out riding Wed. just for the heck of it! :)
Yeah, I know I suck too!
every, day be cause that all i have.
:spy
I generally ride to work every day, and I never ask the weather's permission! :thumb:
Yeah, me and everyone else at Lowes who rides are going to rock out.
Grrr if I COULD I would... damn this is torture.. 2 weeks now I've had the bike and can't ride!
It has hit almost 100 here for the last few days and I've ridden all of them... so get over it and do it! :thumb:

I work at Home Depot as my second job.... we have a ton of people who ride... atleast 10 that I can think of off the top of my head... three of us ride in pretty much every day and the others show up here and there on their bikes.
If I didn't wear a skirt and heels to work every day, I would. I'll ride to class that night for sure, though.
One of my buddies posted up about it on another board; looks like most of my friends are gonna ride to work. :thumb:

And the option of I have the day off but will still be riding...

I have to wear nice pants and shoes at work... I just put em on when I get there, maybe you could do the same :)
Ok. There seems to be a lot more motorsiclers at work since gasoline has shot up. Problem now is finding a parking space in the dedicated MC spaces...might make Wednesday morning interesting...I'll have to take a camera.

I'd LOVE to see that!! :thumb:
I usually ride to work on good days and MAYBE light rainy days.
But alas, not for another week at least.

If you have a mesh jacket, it really does keep you cool IMO.
Except where the armor covers
I'll ride (as usual) if weather conditions permit.
Define IRONY: riding in crappy weather to raise awareness of bikes on the street, promote safety and prevent crashes.... and going down because the conditions were poor... um... dar...no thanks.

I dropped by bike off at the shop one night, and drove to talk to the service guys in the morning, all dressed for work (skirt and strappy sandals). I'm standing next to my bike, talking to the service guy, and this random rider walks up, points, and exclaims "That's not proper riding gear!" To which I laugh (and point to my car and say that I drove), and he responds "Yet somehow, it still works. I think you should try." The service guy smiles and nods. :icon_lol:
It's kinda warm here to ride to work and then change and then change again if I have to go anywhere at lunch, etc. And oddly enough, I don't own any pants that I can wear to work, either. If nothing else, I'll ride to class after work. I promise. :)

COMMUTING is another matter. Sitting in a backup at a light for 5 or 6 cycles, with the sun beating down, sweat dripping out of my State-mandated styrofoam-insulated head bucket, in leather, with the heat of the engine wafting up around my legs... well, I may not be a great advertisement for the "fun" of motorcycling just then.
Yeah, its extremely hot here too. UV index always like 10+, humidities like 90% it makes it feel like 110'+, and then there's always some damned tourist in front of you doesn't know if he should turn at the light or go straight, now you watch the light turn red for the 6th time before you can even make it through, that even makes you hotter!
I ride to work every day. Rain, heat, more heat, hotter heat, whatever. Given, work is only 3 miles away right now, it doesn't matter for me.
I drove my car for the first time in about a month the other day. I had to take my girlfriend to San Antonio and we had too much stuff to carry on the bike. Dang.
I'm off tomorrow so I wasn't going to ride (100+ heat fun). But I just got an email from the local shop ... ride in and you get 25% off all the accessories you can carry out ... I was looking for a new jacket and overpants anyway.
AND they're discounting up to $1000 off commuter bikes when you have a commuter trade in. Might be a good time to pick up the sweet Ducati Monster 620 Dark they just took in ..... especially if I can get it in the $2000 range ....

Get a mesh jacket. 100+ heat will seem far easier and more enjoyable. Fieldsheer, Alpinestars, and Tourmaster/Cortech all have good mesh jackets. I have tried on a few Joe Crappit and wouldn't trust them in a crash.

I actually have a Fieldsheer mesh jacket. I don't like that all the velcro sticks to the jacket though. I think the jacket may be slightly big so I really tighten it down and there's about 4 inches of velcro at my waist, 2 places on the arm, and the wrist that all overshoot their corresponding pieces and sort of stick to the jacket. I'm looking for something that's cordura and that has buttons so I don't have to deal with it anymore. Then I'll keep the Fieldsheer for days like this week where it's oppressively hot out.

Buttons and snaps can come undone during a crash. Velcro stays tight. That's my main complaint with the Fieldsheer I have.
Maybe I just need to get a better fitting jacket  and deal with the velcro. I love my Fieldsheer other than that.
To hijack a little, any thoughts on buying overpants I've never tried on? The local shop .. well .. SUCKS when it comes to gear so I cannot actually try anything on before I buy. [/hijack]

If offered in numerical sizes, buy about 2 up from your normal jean size. They will fit snug, but that's how gear is supposed to fit. If its alpha sizing, well crap.

yeah .. that's why i've been checking out newenough and tonker ($$$) for a few weeks .. and still wearing jeans ...
I ride everywhere and only take the car when me and the fiance go out for something. Plus when it rains that is just like turning on the AC in a car on a hot and muggy summer day
With the exception of Fridays, when I get to leave work early, I avoid riding to work when it's supposed to be super hot. (Fortunately, I car pool so I don't actually have to drive a cage when I don't ride) Anyway, I have a mesh jacket and all, but when you're sitting in traffic for over an hour, most of which time you're not actually moving, it gets kinda nasty in 90+ degree and 80% humidity weather. After a ride like that my clothes are soaking wet. I do have to say though, that sweat is great when you do finally start moving. :thumb:
but yeah I'll ride tomorrow
I usually ride...
But, maybe I'll drive tomorrow... I'll want protection from all those crazy newb squids on the road.

I worked night shift last night. Rode to work, then rode home. I work again tonight, and I'll ride there too.
Yay bikes.
Rode to work this morning, took the wife's bike, was going to ask but she was sleeping and I didn't want to wake her.
Morning and afternoon comute has actually gotten better with the higher gas prices. Used to take 45 to 1 hr to get to work and the ride home was about the same. Now I'm makeing 20 to 30 min's. in both the morning and afternoon.
It didn't seem like the word got out about "Ride To Work Day." It seemed like i saw less bikes on the way to work this morning than usual. And i was so excited about waving the whole way to work...
Even though I'm still on vacation, I just got done riding my bike to work anyways.(1-1/2 hours round trip) I didn't go inside though, probably would have just pee-oed everyone, and I want to keep my ride pleasant which it was. Hope everybody else's rides today were the same.

That's how it was here too, though it was probably due to the forcast for severe thunderstorms with wind and hail. I strongly considered not riding, but I checked the radar and figured the storms would hit after I got to work, which they did. The GS is parked safely in a ramp next to the few others who fear no weather. Now I'm hoping no more storms develope for the ride home, but If they do I've got my rain gear and/or my bus pass to cover me
It's really too bad though, I was looking forward to seeing all the bikes out
I rode... And so did all the usual suspects...
Doesn't seem any different that usual. :dunno_white:
I had to visit one of the plants today, so took the GS. Pretty cool to be on the clock while riding, about 4 hours worth. Also will get a nice mileage check! Sweet!
Once I got back to the office though, I was the only bike, as usual....

Every day is ride to work day. :dunno_white:
Friday is Ride 2up to work day... That should be interesting. :thumb:
Not sure how many people here are on the "official" Ride To Work, Inc mailing list. I got this yesterday afternoon from them (favorite part bolded). I have no idea where they're talking about. Even the local shop had less bikes out front yesterday. Oh well - at least I/we rode 8)
"Today, hundreds of thousands of motorcycles and scooters will descend on workplaces across the country as part of Ride to Work Day, a popular annual commuting event for riders. Ride to Work Day has grown to include hundreds of thousands of motorcyclists worldwide who believe that riding to work en masse on a single, focused day will demonstrate the positive social, environmental and economic impact of motorcycles and scooters. The event is promoted by many motorcycling groups and organizations, and is led by Ride To Work, a non-profit advocacy effort.
Participation in the yearly demonstration is estimated to triple the number of riders on the road and save tens of thousands of gallons of gasoline. Riders say adding more motorcycles and scooters to the daily commute helps make urban parking easier and traffic flow better. "For many people, riding is a socially responsible form of mobility that saves energy, helps the environment and provides a broad range of other public benefits," stated Andy Goldfine, the organizer."

I did notice more scooters ... but that's probably gas price related, not ride to work ....
