Title: Yet another luggage question
Post by: Onlypastrana199 on July 19, 2006, 12:27:14 PM
I'm really sick of carrying my backpack around and I WILL NOT get a tank bag. I spent way too much on my paint to cover it up like that. So here is my dilema..I want a tail bag. But a small one..not giant, can fit a small child in it huge tail bag. I'd like something small..like joe rocket manta bag small for my tail bag. But that doesn't exist does it? So I kinda decided on the tourmaster sport tail bag

My problem is if I ever want to get saddlebags, the tourmaster sport ones will not fit on my bike. I have a higher mount exhaust. (http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a1/Onlypastrana199/gsexhaust.jpg)
So I have to becareful with what will fit and what will not. I like the Nelson Rigg Silver Streak Mini Saddle bags.

But can I use both of these at the same time or is there some reason I can't???

The mounts might fight with each other...  Depending on how each is mounted.

With the same brand stuff, they're made to work together...

What about a Nelson Rigg Silver Streak Mini TAIL bag?  Do they make such a thing?

The tail bag that goes with the mini saddle bags is a roll bag..and giant. I'd like to primarily use the tail bag and use the saddlebags when only riding 2-up or when I have to.

ride around for a while on a hot day
then touch your can(muffy)
not that hot is it?
you shouldn't have much of a problem with saddlebags on a CF can
also some come with extra protective layer on the inside with ex heat barier

It doesn't get hot, the hottest I've ever felt it is when it sits in the sun, nothing major, but the tourmaster ones will hang down over the side of the muffler and look completely ghey. Plus, (and I've been the passenger on a bike with them) because of where they hang, they make it difficult to keep your feet on the pegs.

OK is there way to mount a tank bag or mid-bag in place of a tail bag? Something smaller? Haha had to have my custom paint color and I have to be difficult with this too  :icon_rolleyes:

If you get a tank bag, such as this one:

You can just use bungee cords to strap it down on the tail.

The metal hooks on the end on the bungees for the tail bags tend to scratch up the side fenders on the gs.  Did on my bike anyway.  I good tank bag wont scratch up your tank if there is no debri btween the bag and the tank.

Just some food for thought

Actually I'm cheating and buying the Rapid Transit Recon 4 and strapping it onto my grabbar.

See here  (http://www.newenoughhp.com/joe_rocket_rapid_transit_recon_4_mid_pack_page.htm)

I only wanted something small anyway, so this works out well.

Mine has yet to show a single mark from the bungee hooks.  :dunno_white:

Different paint quality between the years maybe?

Could be how I install the hooks.  Kind of the "brail" method:-)

Hey Lissa, that's a great idea.  I was asking abt tailbags a month ago and almost everyone told me to get the tankbag.

I received it on Mon - they had to send me a new one b/c one of the buttons were broken.  FYI - its a very tight fit to the grab bar, sits kind of awkard (crooked).  I'll take a picture tonight and post later so you can see.
