today my friend did the stupidest thing ever, he jumped off my bike wile i was taking a curve. i droped my bike and its a lil fup. needles to say i asked my friend what the hell was wrong with him and got no strate answer out of him. so i want to know had i had sliders on would i have broken my frame?
Broken Frame?
Broken Plastics?
two different things.
im talking about the frame
Are you ok? how bad off is the Gs?
im straight thanks, just pissed. the egine is all scratch up, the mirror, a little of the frame and i have a good ensentive for those after market turn signals.
If your frame is messed up you can't be riding that, thats asking for trouble :cookoo:
Glad u ok though.
Lesson 1: Don't ride two up as a noob
Lesson 2: Carry a baseball bat to beat ur ex-friend for f'ing up ur bike
dude if been riding for a year know with a pasenger,i dont think im a noob.
I wasn't trying to attack you Nick I was just joking around, is ur friend a noob to riding 2-up?
Wow! Hope you are okay. How fast were you going when he jumped?
what would make a person jump off a bike? you have to find out what he was thinking. don't be upset - everything is for the better.
Dude! WTF? You should take the repair cost out of his ass... I'd be sooooooo pissed off.
Who are these people you hang out with?
Hello???? How stupid are you to have such dumbasses for friends???

For one riding 2up with another guy is Ghey.
Never do it again. The person on your ass should be another girl. Or if you are a girl its ok for you to have a Girl on the back. But at no time should there be a guy on the back of anyones bike not even if you are a female. Have that mofo get his own bike.

See I knew he liked it up the buttocks.
Basically we can condense my post down to...
What, How, Who, and Why the f%$k?
And why have you not taken this moron to court? Seriously....
My firends would have offered to either repair or replace it. Of course my friends have the good sense not to jump off a moving motorcycle for no apparent reason.....
Speaking of that, were you scaring him? Was he on drugs? Were you on drugs allowing someone with an obvious mental illness on your bike? Did he laugh about it?
And WHY HAVE YOU NOT BEATEN THIS TARD INTO A BLOODY PULP?!?!?!?!
If your frame is cracked you are pretty much done. Stick a fork in it.
Hey Nick glad to hear you are ok. To bad about your bike tho. Post some pic's so we can see the dmg. Have your frame checked out too. Is the frame bent / actually cracked or just scratches on it?
Frame sliders are supposed to protect your frame so haveing those on your bike MIGHT have saved the frame. Depends on how the bike hit the ground / how hard / and did it hit something else to stop sliding.
This place has some ok prices on oem parts

I stopped reading what this guy wrote a long time ago, but are you kidding me? Is he just trying to see how far he can push and still get people to believe him?
Is it possible that with all the "closeness", that your buns got a little close to your buddy's weiner and he got spooked?
he only got spooked cause he liked it sooo much
2 dudes on a bike = sausage-fest
its not g.ay to have your mate as a passenger on your bike, settle down you red necks :icon_mrgreen:
and to answer your question no you wouldn't have broken your frame, (it is made of steel after all) it does redirect all the forces to those points that the sliders are on but thats still not a real major issue.
don't be too hard on your mate, people do stupid sh$t from time to time, its only a bike and your both ok which is the main thing,
get some frame sliders if you have plastics on your bike, if its a naked bike or its gunna be now that all the plastics are stuffed, get some engine guards,
i managed to slide of my bike at 50 and all that happened is the guards and the reqr indicator got a grinding, along with my elbow shoulder and hip.
well have fun :thumb:
In an accident the frame gets subjected to forces it was not designed to accomodate, even fitting sliders will not guarantee that it wont be damaged. As a result of the accident the frame MIGHT be damaged or distorted, it depends on how it hit the ground (or anything else for that matter) and how hard. Its impossible to say if its within tolerance without it being carefully examined by an expert with specialist equipment. The link explains how its done.

We might ALL be lying....hell, most of us may not even exist....there are probably only 17 of us with 672 profiles each! :flipoff:
I care cause Im sick of everyone coddling someone who posts a million and 2 threads on exhausts and framesliders and tapeflames and stunting and then when we do give him advice, other than search noob, he totally ignores it and goes out and acts like a jackass anyway. :flipoff:
Whereas you act like a jack@$$ 98% of the time for no good reason that I can think of, and everyone's pretty damned patient with you! Why aren't YOU the least bit patient with others? Hmmm...?? :flipoff:
I have been very patient with Nick. I have run searches for him and tried to explain to him how to put on a damn exhaust. Now he and his riding buddy's are endangering people by being jackass's. Ultimately as the bikes owner and driver he is responsible for his passenger and his passenger's actions. Grow up!!! You are gonna kill yourself or someone else and become a statistic and make all of our insurance rates go up. THANK YOU!!!

And paid 90 bucks for delivery to a place about an hour out.
They did not put it in the car and drive home..... Hell I could fit the damn thing in a backpack if I was riding, or bungie it to the seat at the very least.
After seeing that momumental stupidity, I've learned one thing.
Never doubt the stupidity of others.
Some folks have more $ than sense? :dunno_white:
Heck, I'd have delivered it to 'em for $50! :icon_razz:

You know, that is actually a very good question Scratch, and the very first question I thought of, but I was too blinded by the way it happened.
Maybe the bike is totally smashed? I think he said the frame was done for.
If his bike is totally smashed then that is the best news I've heard all day.
1st...Nick I no understand. :cookoo: :cookoo: :cookoo:This is the dumbest thing I have read so far. You passenger needs to be cut, just to keep him from breeding. You need to find a new group to hang out with. If your bike just has road rash...yes sliders would have helped.

3rd...AJ, why do you let him get under your skin. He is just nut case, looking for his nuts.

And pleasure yourself doesnt count as getting laid.
yeah lets see, im coming from spanish backround, only been living in a english country for 3 years. i dont think im doing to bad.
You aint doing too good either.
AJ. Seriously, relax...... I know he pisses you off but really. Just settle.
Why it happened... we may never know. Don't stress too much. I'm pretty certain that Nick shares your appraisal of his friend.
Dumb-ASS. I think we can all agree on that.
I doubt that Nick condones his friend's actions any more than you do.
AJ apparently you can understand well enough to make snappy comebacks, so obviously he's getting his point across.
AJ no offense intended, but really, it's probably not good to get so angry.
If you deciphered a point you must understand dumblish better than I.
hey aj lets call it a truce. im tyred of you lately going on my ass. im sorry if i offended ya in any way. ya i learned my leason. dont take anyone on the back that isnt your girl friend and tell ur friends never to jump off the bike no matter what.
Thats ghey, don't let someone tell you what to do. You learn from experience and you will never be safe till its happened at least the once. Take whoever you want on your god damned bike. Why do people get all jumpy when they see two guys on a a bike (they may be ghey) they may not who cares? Why should it matter if a guy is riding on the back of his girls bike either?
And AJ why so hostile - just chill. nick is responsable for the SAFTEY of his passangers. His passanger jumping off and causing the bike to crash is not his fault. It may have been bad judgement in his friends but he couldn't have predicted they were going to jump off.
Also nick on his own will not raise your insurance rate. He adds to the statistics. But then we could say everytime you go out on the road you risk hitting an animal or a puddle of water or uneven road surface and your going to have an accident and insurance will go up. We can do nothing but ride safely and in this situation nick carrying a passage is not unsafe - he wasn't doing something stupid he was riding and actually braking to go around a corner.
So why doesn't everyone crack open a beer and chill the hell out.

nick, you have nothing to apologize for. aj's attack is unwarranted and not acceptable.
It sounds as though this crash taught you an important lesson, and that's good. This friend endangered your life and his. If he wants to injure/maim himself, go for it, but it's completely uncool to endanger someone else's life and limb (not to mention causing someone to wad their bike). As you now know, it's important to make sure your pillion knows what s/he is doing. Ride safe, and ride smart, k? Don't let anyone even near your bike if you think they're not going to take safety seriously, and YOU think about safety seriously, too. You were lucky to have had sort of a "warning" go-down.
GSTwin values ALL of its members. Some of us say that with a big stick, and others of us say it with words...but I think we all want the same thing.... for everyone to be safe and stay alive. ;) :kiss3:
P.S. Real men remain manly whether there's a man or woman riding pillion behind them. :icon_razz:
Exactly Pandy! well said. :kiss3:
x
trust me i learned my leason. and aj i didnt reprt it to insurance cause i only have colateral i cant afford the other one, so you dont have to worry about ur insurance going up. as far as stunting or doing stupid like that i stoped back in easter day when i almost got arested. so i have been driving safe for a wile.
oh, so this is what got aj banned again. serves her right. too bad its not a permanent ban. should be.
nick, glad you're okay. frame sliders would have prevented some damage, surely, but not likely all damage. when I lowsided, the sliders saved a bunch of the bodywork (and of course the frame) but some still got trashed. Lesson learned about having a talk with any passenger you take, about what is appropriate behavior on their part and what they should be doing, how they get on and off, what to do at stops, etc. AND, how important it is to be calm and not do anything in a panic.

Dude... frame sliders work on the bike. You've asked that question at least once, and had it answered at least once. I've seen other people post the same question before. Do a damn search. FRAME SLIDERS WORK. IF YOU CUT HOLES IN THE FAIRINGS AND BOLT THEM TO THE FRAME, AS YOU ARE INTENDED TO DO.
Dude, just go for the case guards, they look so much better and are degined for our bikes.

I got my SW Motech Case Guards for $120 shipped from TwistedThrottle.com. The only real hassle was waiting 3 weeks for them to be in stock. After that, I had em in 4 days, and the install took about 15 mins, tops. And they look damn good. And they work. And they're designed for our bike. And... buy em.. make your bike a naked bike! Naked is where it's AT!

Uhh, dude. I don't think I ever said that. If I did, point it out to me. The only time a crash bung (or frame slider, or mushroom, or many other names) will screw the frame up is if it is designed poorly. And that's dealing with an aluminum frame, as steel frames are pretty damn tough. If the frame slider is too long and it catches on something while sliding then it would bend the bar of the frame slider before anything.
Your questions have all been answered before.
Why do you keep asking the same questions over and over again?

If you hit hard enough, it will push your braket holding the fairing into your frame, pulling the plastic along with it. You're running the risk of cracking your plastics. The brackets that hold the fairing are really weak and won't be able to stand up to the force caused by a falling motorcycle. If they do, however, they could be seriously bent up which might warp your fairing. If it ever fell over you'd have to take off the fairing and check to see that the bracket underneath didn't sustain any damage.

The brackets that hold the fairing are really weak and won't be able to stand up to the force caused by a falling motorcycle. If they do, however, they could be seriously bent up which might warp your fairing. If it ever fell over you'd have to take off the fairing and check to see that the bracket underneath didn't sustain any damage.
nice guy

Yeah dude, if you actually read that I was talking about the FAIRING BRACKETS. That post was discussing mounting frame sliders from the FAIRING MOUNTING BRACKETS.

Huh, really nick? Because that's what they ALL look like...
my alpha ur right. so this lockhart philips well work just as good as the european ones by r&g?
Nick again glad your ok and making this a learning exp. :thumb:
BTW it takes more energy to tell someone to search than just ignoring the question. And I don't think he asked if frame sliders would work IN THIS THREAD he called LP. And just stated that LP said they would fit. . .gee must be something wrong when you want to double check on something before you spend your money on it.
I guess in a few more months when everything has been asked every reply will be search. . . thats going to be a fun forum.
Riding 2 Up is very ghey IF your not secure in your manhood, or if your a homophobe. Otherwise it's fine. And really if you see two guys riding two up and if they are ghey so the f*uk what?
Getting laid. . hmmm that stoped after I got married
dont worry its chicks only from now own and if they jump off, im taking off their helmet and taking off.
so do you think that the LP will work

Have you even bothered calling LP and seeing if they even work on the GS?
Have you even considered the price of either of one? The ones from Europe are going to run you ~$90 plus shipping. LP doesn't even have a price (meaning they might not exist).
And how should I know which one to get? I don't even have a faired bike.
rich bought them for 35 and said the regular price was 50, i wanted to know if maibe he told you about his progres, i would ask him but unfortunatly hes riding somewere up their

I bought the frame sliders the guy on eBay sells. I got them in the mail, what a bunch of crap. I wasn't impressed. They are like roller skate stoppers. I doubt they would do much good in the event of a real slide - maybe if it was just knocked over by the wind, MAYBE. They are ugly and I wish I still had my $35. I can deal with them being ugly, but I wanted them to be quality. It's gotta be one or the other..!
If you want them, you can have mine. We can work out a deal. I can even bring them to the Carlisle Ride/Meet if you want to check them out.
Nick, learn to read.

Blue im not going to put words in your mouth, im not sure your talking bout me but if you you are.... I am secure with my manhood. Im not a homophobe. It does make me feel weird when i am in the bathroom pissing and someone is looking at my package though.
So with that said. I still think riding two up is Ghey. Its not something i would do for the pleasure of it. If my friends to ride he needs to get his own or he can ride mine. Only time i will allow another pee pee on my bike is in a case of emergency, and the same goes for me getting on another guys bike.
Thank you. :thumb:
Hey dwn not calling anybody out just like everyone else just stating my oppion.
Nick you said you called LP and they said it would fit :dunno_white:
both of the ones you are talking about are supposed to fit the GS so get whatever you think looks nicer. Sometimes you gotta take a chance if the company you are buying from say's they fit then order it. If they do not return them.
will do dude, thanks for the adivece
if not my homeboy says he can make some that will fit my bike, just need to know the sport were the european ones go on
R&G crash protectors are extremely good. They are basically market leaders here. When people talk about crash protectors i would always look for R&G crash bungs, they hold the market.
f%$king A... Nobody turned this into a "search n00bcake!" thread. BUUUUUUUUUUT... Nick asked the same question that he's asked before. Which was answered before. Repeatedly. So it's not a matter of searching. It's a matter of listening when people respond. Or maybe it's just a simple matter of reading and trying to comprehend. Saying someone said XYZ, then quoting the post where they said ABC, and telling them they said XYZ just doesn't make sense. I like Nick. For the most part. He's becoming less squidly every day (I think). But seeing ELEVENTYBILLIONMILLIONTRILLION(Brazilian?) posts about the same thing.. by the same guy.. getting the same answers... that bugs the shaZam! out of me!

Good God man! I hope you're giving them more than just a helmet! If you've only got one set of gear, then you damn well better make sure their hide is protected!
Kids these days.. sheesh.. what ever happened to chivalry?
and common sense?
:dunno_white:
If anyone finds that they've reached the end of their "helpfulness" in any thread, please just move on. Badgering members repeatedly is NOT helpful.
If you find someone's question(s) repetitive, and that the questions don't live up to your standards of what's "appropriate," simply don't answer, and find a thread elsewhere that you feel is more "worthy" of your help and your time.
The nastiness lately is out of hand, and will be dealt with as it (if it) arises again.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Quote from: dwn4whadever on July 20, 2006, 05:10:24 PMFor one riding 2up with another guy is Ghey.
Never do it again. The person on your ass should be another girl. Or if you are a girl its ok for you to have a Girl on the back. But at no time should there be a guy on the back of anyones bike not even if you are a female. Have that mofo get his own bike.
Exactly.
