what would make a person jump off a bike? you have to find out what he was thinking. don't be upset - everything is for the better.

Never do it again. The person on your ass should be another girl. Or if you are a girl its ok for you to have a Girl on the back. But at no time should there be a guy on the back of anyones bike not even if you are a female. Have that mofo get his own bike.

Basically we can condense my post down to...

What, How, Who, and Why the f%$k?

And why have you not taken this moron to court? Seriously....

My firends would have offered to either repair or replace it. Of course my friends have the good sense not to jump off a moving motorcycle for no apparent reason.....

Speaking of that, were you scaring him? Was he on drugs? Were you on drugs allowing someone with an obvious mental illness on your bike? Did he laugh about it?

And WHY HAVE YOU NOT BEATEN THIS TARD INTO A BLOODY PULP?!?!?!?!

If your frame is cracked you are pretty much done. Stick a fork in it.

Hey Nick glad to hear you are ok.  To bad about your bike tho.  Post some pic's so we can see the dmg.   Have your frame checked out too.  Is the frame bent / actually cracked or just scratches on it?

Frame sliders are supposed to protect your frame so haveing those on your bike MIGHT have saved the frame.  Depends on how the bike hit the ground / how hard / and did it hit something else to stop sliding.

This place has some ok prices on oem parts

its not g.ay to have your mate as a passenger on your bike, settle down you red necks :icon_mrgreen:
and to answer your question no you wouldn't have broken your frame, (it is made of steel after all) it does redirect all the forces to those points that the sliders are on but thats still not a real major issue.
don't be too hard on your mate, people do stupid sh$t from time to time, its only a bike and your both ok which is the main thing,
get some frame sliders if you have plastics on your bike, if its a naked bike or its gunna be now that all the plastics are stuffed, get some engine guards,
i managed to slide of my bike at 50 and all that happened is the guards and the reqr indicator got a grinding, along with my elbow shoulder and hip.
well have fun :thumb:

In an accident the frame gets subjected to forces it was not designed to accomodate, even fitting sliders will not guarantee that it wont be damaged.  As a result of the accident  the frame MIGHT be damaged or distorted, it depends on how it hit the ground (or anything else for that matter) and how hard. Its impossible to say if its within tolerance without it being carefully examined by an expert with specialist equipment. The link explains how its done.

You know, I used to doubt that anyone could pull off such feats of stupidity.

Then Wednesday someone came into Lowes and bought a toaster oven......

This one:  http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=63181-83124-KCO1005OB&lpage=none

And paid 90 bucks for delivery to a place about an hour out.

They did not put it in the car and drive home..... Hell I could fit the damn thing in a backpack if I was riding, or bungie it to the seat at the very least.

After seeing that momumental stupidity, I've learned one thing.

Never doubt the stupidity of others.

Nick I think that you've got some ass kickin to do. Go visit your friend & say I'm here to chew gum & kick ass & I'm all out of gum. Then open a can of woop ass on him.

He told me the reason he jumped off was because he thought i was stoping ( since i was slowing down for the curve) and he wanted just to get off.  :dunno_white: Know as far as droping the bike again, im having sliders put on again so i should edti the tittle saying i droped my bike with out slidders for the last time.

AJ. Seriously, relax...... I know he pisses you off but really. Just settle.

Why it happened... we may never know. Don't stress too much. I'm pretty certain that Nick shares your appraisal of his friend.

Dumb-ASS. I think we can all agree on that.

I doubt that Nick condones his friend's actions any more than you do.

AJ apparently you can understand well enough to make snappy comebacks, so obviously he's getting his point across.

AJ no offense intended, but really, it's probably not good to get so angry.

Thats ghey, don't let someone tell you what to do. You learn from experience and you will never be safe till its happened at least the once. Take whoever you want on your god damned bike. Why do people get all jumpy when they see two guys on a a bike (they may be ghey) they may not who cares? Why should it matter if a guy is riding on the back of his girls bike either?

And AJ why so hostile - just chill. nick is responsable for the SAFTEY of his passangers. His passanger jumping off and causing the bike to crash is not his fault. It may have been bad judgement in his friends but he couldn't have predicted they were going to jump off.

Also nick on his own will not raise your insurance rate. He adds to the statistics. But then we could say everytime you go out on the road you risk hitting an animal or a puddle of water or uneven road surface and your going to have an accident and insurance will go up. We can do nothing but ride safely and in this situation nick carrying a passage is not unsafe - he wasn't doing something stupid he was riding and actually braking to go around a corner.

So why doesn't everyone crack open a beer and chill the hell out.

/rant over

(opening beer)

hahahaht this thread delivers

THIS was priceless. It's not my AIM away message

"For one riding 2up with another guy is Ghey.

Never do it again. The person on your ass should be another girl. Or if you are a girl its ok for you to have a Girl on the back. But at no time should there be a guy on the back of anyones bike not even if you are a female"

nick, you have nothing to apologize for. aj's attack is unwarranted and not acceptable.

It sounds as though this crash taught you an important lesson, and that's good. This friend endangered your life and his. If he wants to injure/maim himself, go for it, but it's completely uncool to endanger someone else's life and limb (not to mention causing someone to wad their bike). As you now know, it's important to make sure your pillion knows what s/he is doing. Ride safe, and ride smart, k? Don't let anyone even near your bike if you think they're not going to take safety seriously, and YOU think about safety seriously, too. You were lucky to have had sort of a "warning" go-down.

GSTwin values ALL of its members. Some of us say that with a big stick, and others of us say it with words...but I think we all want the same thing.... for everyone to be safe and stay alive. ;) :kiss3:

P.S. Real men remain manly whether there's a man or woman riding pillion behind them.  :icon_razz:

oh, so this is what got aj banned again. serves her right. too bad its not a permanent ban. should be.

nick, glad you're okay. frame sliders would have prevented some damage, surely, but not likely all damage. when I lowsided, the sliders saved a bunch of the bodywork (and of course the frame) but some still got trashed. Lesson learned about having a talk with any passenger you take, about what is appropriate behavior on their part and what they should be doing, how they get on and off, what to do at stops, etc. AND, how important it is to be calm and not do anything in a panic.

Dude... frame sliders work on the bike. You've asked that question at least once, and had it answered at least once. I've seen other people post the same question before. Do a damn search. FRAME SLIDERS WORK. IF YOU CUT HOLES IN THE FAIRINGS AND BOLT THEM TO THE FRAME, AS YOU ARE INTENDED TO DO.

+1

I got my SW Motech Case Guards for $120 shipped from TwistedThrottle.com. The only real hassle was waiting 3 weeks for them to be in stock. After that, I had em in 4 days, and the install took about 15 mins, tops. And they look damn good. And they work. And they're designed for our bike. And... buy em.. make your bike a naked bike! Naked is where it's AT!

Uhh, dude. I don't think I ever said that. If I did, point it out to me. The only time a crash bung (or frame slider, or mushroom, or many other names) will screw the frame up is if it is designed poorly. And that's dealing with an aluminum frame, as steel frames are pretty damn tough. If the frame slider is too long and it catches on something while sliding then it would bend the bar of the frame slider before anything.

Your questions have all been answered before. Why do you keep asking the same questions over and over again?

If you hit hard enough, it will push your braket holding the fairing into your frame, pulling the plastic along with it. You're running the risk of cracking your plastics. The brackets that hold the fairing are really weak and won't be able to stand up to the force caused by a falling motorcycle. If they do, however, they could be seriously bent up which might warp your fairing. If it ever fell over you'd have to take off the fairing and check to see that the bracket underneath didn't sustain any damage.

Roller skates? What the hell are you talking about?

By the way, the frame sliders in the link above don't have any rolling parts. At all.

Nick again glad your ok and making this a learning exp.  :thumb:
BTW it takes more energy to tell someone to search than just ignoring the question.  And I don't think he asked if frame sliders would work IN THIS THREAD he called LP.  And just stated that LP said they would fit. . .gee must be something wrong when you want to double check on something before you spend your money on it.

I guess in a few more months when everything has been asked every reply will be search. . . thats going to be a fun forum.

Have you even bothered calling LP and seeing if they even work on the GS?

Have you even considered the price of either of one? The ones from Europe are going to run you ~$90 plus shipping. LP doesn't even have a price (meaning they might not exist).

And how should I know which one to get? I don't even have a faired bike.

I bought the frame sliders the guy on eBay sells. I got them in the mail, what a bunch of crap. I wasn't impressed. They are like roller skate stoppers. I doubt they would do much good in the event of a real slide - maybe if it was just knocked over by the wind, MAYBE. They are ugly and I wish I still had my $35. I can deal with them being ugly, but I wanted them to be quality. It's gotta be one or the other..!

If you want them, you can have mine. We can work out a deal. I can even bring them to the Carlisle Ride/Meet if you want to check them out.

Nick, learn to read.

f%$king A... Nobody turned this into a "search n00bcake!" thread. BUUUUUUUUUUT... Nick asked the same question that he's asked before. Which was answered before. Repeatedly. So it's not a matter of searching. It's a matter of listening when people respond. Or maybe it's just a simple matter of reading and trying to comprehend. Saying someone said XYZ, then quoting the post where they said ABC, and telling them they said XYZ just doesn't make sense. I like Nick. For the most part. He's becoming less squidly every day (I think). But seeing ELEVENTYBILLIONMILLIONTRILLION(Brazilian?) posts about the same thing.. by the same guy.. getting the same answers... that bugs the shaZam! out of me!

If anyone finds that they've reached the end of their "helpfulness" in any thread, please just move on. Badgering members repeatedly is NOT helpful.

If you find someone's question(s) repetitive, and that the questions don't live up to your standards of what's "appropriate," simply don't answer, and find a thread elsewhere that you feel is more "worthy" of your help and your time.

The nastiness lately is out of hand, and will be dealt with as it (if it) arises again.

Thank you for your cooperation.
