Dosent our bike come stock with a 15 tooth front sprocket?
I though to get a change in gearing you had to go with a 14 tooth sprocket?
Did you get a 16 tooth from the factory?

Stock is 16 front, 39 rear.
A 14T is a drop two sizes up front, equal to going up 6 on the rear sprocket.

The device that holds the sprocket on is called an external circlip, there are many way to remove them but only one safe way and thats by using the tool shown in the link. Levering and forcing them off can distort and weaken the circlip and prevent them from correctly sitting in the locating groove on the shaft when it is refitted. If the clip looks at all distorted when its removed replace it, otherwise you are compromising safety and reliabilty, they cost pennies.

yeah for every tooth drop in the front its like up in three rear... It also drops the top speed about 6-9 miles per hour. but then again if your not track racing then it might be worth it. Its actually safer to step up the rear because you don't pull the chain closer to the swing arm just a future thought one tooth up front doesn't make to much a diff in chain clearance but two can bring it a bit closer than I like only thing is it takes a bigger chain if you move up in the rear then you have to move to a 112 114 link vs. 110 Stock. Yes you can move up in the rear its the same cush drive as a some katana/GSXR 4.5 rim rear end. Make sense???

If the top speed on your vehicle is power limited, then lowering your gearing can effectively RAISE your top speed.
No problems have arisen yet with the 14T front sprocket.
