Alrighty,
We're looking for a super bad motorcycle. Used can be had for around 4,000 dollars.
Bikes I've already pegged as possibilityies.
CB919
Blackbird
Fireblade
Any other thoughts?
An '86 Yamaha V-Max
An '68 Triumph Bonnieville, $#@t, any late '60's to mid-'70's Triumph.
Naked Hayabusa, twin turbo, just for fun.
YZ426F with carbon fiber wheels and motard suspension, and Pilot Powers.
CB550 cafe racer converted to fuelie.
VTR 1000 (super hawk 996). :thumb:
'80-'81 Honda CBX1100, yeah, the SIX-cylinder.
Or, better yet, an '83 naked Goldwing.
'83 Suzuki GS1150ES bored out to a monster 1610cc (at least 1550cc).
+1 on the V-Max :thumb:
V65 Magna.
Triumph Speed Triple
Or anywhere from 1~4+ GS500s... and strap them together...

Neither the 'busa or the YZ can be had for less than $4k. The YZ set up like that would probably be $6k+
Good call on the CB though. How about a '80 750? Or, a CB900F?
'83 Triumph Trident

You know the more I think it over the narrower it gets
CB919/CB900F (Neutered top end)
CBR900RR Fireblade (Touring, you MUST be joking.)
The older carb'd blackbirds sound like an interesting idea to me. They're just south of 5k at the dealer in perfect condition.
The CBX seems to be a collector's item, and difficult to maintain.
Triumph speed triple..... Umm not my style, by far.
V-max, well I don't know I think it's too heavy. That's just me though. Also That big butt just screams J Lo a little too loud ya know?
I mean yeah, I like all these bikes, but which one do I want in my driveway sometime in the next season or two?
I'm just trolling for ideas. Kind of looking for the opposite of the GS right now, wouldn't want to have two very similar bikes I think. But of course the CB1300F is a looker, but apparently non-us just like the GSX1400 (both of which seem pretty awesome)
I don't know about the price being around 4K,but the older generation Fazer1000 might be nice, what with the R1 engine
and stout frame it's a brute(...and it's almost naked!)
They made a Fazer 1000!? For the U.S.? I remember the 750 in '86-'87. That would be a sweet bike (faster than the FZ750's ;) ; just like the Radian was faster than the FJ600 and the FZ600 (but didn't handle as well as the FZ)).
You probably know this bike already...it's called FZ1 in the US.
IMO it's one of the versatile bikes around,it can do anything... ;)

Okay, under $5k
V max is a great answer ...
So is the V65, Madura 1200 and my favorite Eli 9/10 ... the ony one with a I 4 instead of a V4.
BTW for the mid sized - eli 6 is too weak, Magna 750 is too heavy - though the 94+ is great for that being one and only of its vintage ... madura 7 is too low revving and heavy, and Vmax isn't made in the 750 - so the list starts with a Maxim 700 - light but gutless, and a maximX 700 5 valve water cooled - kick the damn air maxim out the ball park ...
There you have it ... MaximX and eli9/10. Both I4's and totally and royally rare ... BTW Fazer 700 from the 80's was same as the maximX.
Cool.
Srinath.
The problekm is that i would be so paranoid owning the Z1000 I don't think i would enjoy it.
Triumph Speed triple.... (http://i19.ebayimg.com/05/i/07/bb/3e/58_3.JPG) On ebay now...
