How long will the stock tires last assuming the following:
- no burnouts
- no tire squaring
- lots of highway
- healthy amount of twisty roads
uhm.... I'm guessing 5-6k?
I swapped mine at 4k, but I did a few burn-outs from boredom
it is that low? damn.
I'm about 4800 miles on my stock tires now.. so they're going to need replacing soon? :icon_confused: They still look like they could do another 4000 miles
i put a good 8k on my front and 3k on the rear till i got a nail it it
I failed to mention, I ONLY replaced my rear tire.
Factory BT45s just hit 8k miles.
Fast highway miles.
Just hit the wear bars on the rear.
Front looks like it will go twice the rear.

don't forget mike that thats miles not km's
I've seen people post numbers as high as 10K on stockers. Which I guess I understand, since they're harder than 3 day old dog turds, with about as much traction in the rain! Mine are at about 5400, and look brand new. Hey, what a koinky-dink, my bike has the same number of miles!
my bt45's 8000k's front and rear front probably had another 1000 in it but i like to change both at the same time :thumb:
i still have the stock tyre on my bike and i have done 16000 km
I need new tires on my bike too. I only have a little over 4,000 mi. on them but they are about ten years old. Yes, time for new tires.

Yeah - i can work both ways... unlike the americans ;)
8,000 miles is good enough for me.
so as long as i don't do any burnouts and i'm in the clear for a while 8)
I ran the OE Excedras on my 97 for 8k miles and replaced them with BT45's which went 9500 miles on the rear. Fronts last more like 12-14k miles on these OE bias ply tires. The rear sport touring radials last about 13-14k miles and the touring tires last the longest. I got about 17k from a ME88 and a K491 went 18k miles and was only half worn when punctured.
Your milage may vary. :)

i got about 8k out of mine but it was way past the wear bars .. i did a few nights at the drag strip ( sooo i'd say about ... 8 burnouts nothing big just enough to heat up the tires ) and lots of miles :) front tire is still ok .. when i run this rear tire out i'll put a new set ( front and rear ) on it . and i ride alot :) i bought the bike in nov of 05 with 2 miles on it .. it now has 10550 miles on it :)
