Title: Finally got my 1st bike!!
Post by: notAdub on July 27, 2006, 03:10:57 PM
So I have been looking for months and missed some sweet deeals, had my license since May after passing my MSF course, and Finally bought a 2000 GS e  this past Monday!!!

I have about 60 miles on it so far, and can't wait to hop back on, but between work and the wonderful  :icon_rolleyes: Pittsburgh weather, I haven't had a chance to ride much.

I got caught in a nasty rainstorm today while riding around, got soaked but managed to get home safely!

I have been riding with full gear, but it has been so damn humid, and unless I am moving at a good pace, I sweat like a mofo', got a Joe Rocket Pheonix Jacket, Cortech Airlight( it think that is the model) gloves, Shoei RF-1000 helmet and Jeans and hiking boots for now. Any good warm weather riding pants?

I am moving to South Florida soon, and can't imagine how hot I will be down there :o

Anyway just wanted to say hi and I have learned a hella lot on this site so far!

Congrats on your first bike!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  :thumb:

It's been so hot here in San Jose that I'm thinking about getting some mesh pants (http://www.newenough.com/firstgear_meshtex2_pants_page.htm).

Now....to just find some short enough for me... ;)

Ever walked into the bathroom after someone has taken a long, hot shower?  Something like that.

Congrats on the bike!

Thanks, I was just down in Fort Myers last week, looking for apts. and interviewing for a job, and although it was in the 90's, the earlier part of the week (before the record rainfall) it wasn't humid, at least no where near as humid as it has been here in da 'burgh.

can anyone host a couple pics for me?

As far as the mesh pants go, I will look into those, they look like they offer a hell of a lot more breathabilty than jeans and more protection to boot ;)

I think  I want a different jacket as well, I bought mine locally used off craigslist in almost new condition for $65, but it is just a bit on the small side, and it is all black.

Bwahaha.... now add giant mosquitoes trying to eat your face.. yep!

I could host em.. but like Pandy said, photobucket is free, and lets you do your own uploading/deleting, instead of asking me to do it all the time...

'Grats on the bike! And the move to Ft. Myers.. I live in Naples when I'm not at school in Atlanta. Maybe next time I'm on break we can ride!

I bought it for $1500 with almost 28,000 miles, but it is in pretty good condition, just inspected and a brand new rear tire.

I am kinda concerned about the tires though. The front is a "Road Winner" ? in stock size, but the shop the previous owner took it to for inspection was out of the correct rear tire so they put a Pirelli Sport Demon 130/80/17 on it. Is that size going to be safe?

That would be cool, just shot me a PM on here anytime!. I'll let you know when I get down there and settled in. My psuedo-girlfriend (long story) is moving to Atalant in a couple of weeks, so  Iwill most likely be there as well, HA.

Kinda dissapointed in the lack of twisties down there though

Oh, one more thing about the bike, pretty much the only thing I don't like. one of the previous owners (All of which were Penn State students) modified the clutch and front brake levers, and they now are shorter and the ends bend more sharpely forward, kinda uncomfortable to hold in the clutch while sitting at traffic lights.

Cool, I'm in Naples now, for the summer, but I'll be back in ATL within 3 weeks. Not sure when I'm coming back. Now when you come to Atlanta, definitely let me know! Why's youre Psuedo-GF moving there?

I definitley will, you can show us both around (my girl and I).

She just got a job teaching Elem. Art. She will actually be about 25 miles south of the city, in the 'burbs.

Naples, eh?! I will be working in Estero at Coconut Point in a brand new Trek "concept store" bike shop. I am a tech & salesman. It is most likely a temp. job as I have been approved for my temp. teaching cert. for k-12 in Computer Science.

Oh, and I just got back from puttin' another 30 miles or so on the GS :thumb: damn, how is having this much fun legal??? lol
