Title: Speedometer is losing it.....
Post by: GS500er on July 31, 2006, 10:25:09 AM
My Speedometer is friggin losing it at high speeds  :cookoo:.... (wobbles to and fro)  I can't tell if I'm going 140 or 180 at times....

Any clue what the problem could be? I've notice that the little metal rod entering the back of the speedometer is really greasy, unlike my tachometer....

I'll replace the speedometer If I have to, but I'd rather not.

Lube the cable.

This has been happening with me, too. What sort of lube would you suggest for this. Just a heavy oil of some sort, or what?

I would use white lithium grease. Mainly because I have a tub of it.

I didn't even know there was such a thing as cable lube... learn somethin' every day!

I'll see what we have lying around. Probably have something in our boundless pile of chemicals.
