Post by: mike_mike on August 03, 2006, 10:08:38 AM
rimtape + gs500 = hours of swearing

I think it'd be easier to change the oil and do a valve adjustment than install this damn stuff! needless to say, i failed the install :(

I'm not sure what you guys are doing, but it only took me about 15 minutes total (not including the two hours of trying to figure out how to prop up one wheel at a time to roll freely).

PS.  I also did it all alone.  Before I started, a friend told me he had help from his father.  His father sat on the bike and kept it straight, while my friend installed the tape.

You just have to have a steady hand.

Well then you should open a rim tape intallation center.  You know why?  Because 99 out of 100 people think it is a pain in the ass.

PS.  I also did it all alone.  Before I started, I had a thought and used it to form an idea. You just have to have a steady mind.

BTW- if you do open an rimtape installation center, let me know so I can I apply for the job of wheel prop man.

  :thumb:  Will do.  You'll be the first hire.  Howsabout $15 an hour?  Provided you will do at least three installations at $20 + parts each.

This has got me thinking, NEW POLL...

aye capt'n ,  I will be the wheel prop man.  in an hour I could prop oh...say...20-30 bikes in preperation for rimstriping.

15/hr  just won't cut it. I have 6 kids at home... and pay child support on 4 more.  I am thinking more like. 400$ per hour and I will only work one hr. 9am-10am.  seeing as how I can do 20-30 bikes in that time.  you'll never have that many customers in one day.

oh yeah full medical. and a free gs500 06' model as a sign on bonus.   and don't forget a big bowl of green peanut M&M's always full.
