Title: My bike won't start
Post by: n4t3 on August 04, 2006, 03:51:00 PM
Hello all.  I crashed my bike exactly 2 months ago.  Just got it back together today and since my battery's dead I tried to jump it but nothing happens, no sound or anything.  I have everything back on it except for the clutch lever- which I still need- but I just figured I could pull the clutch cable and when I do I can shift gears.  When I turn the key everything lights up and is fine but when hitting the ignition switch nothing happens.    When I had my accident I turned off the fuel valve and it's been off until now when I tried to start it about 5 minutes ago but I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

Anybody know what could be causing this problem?  Perhaps my wiring is messed?  I followed the diagrams in my Clymers so I think everything is legit, except there's one small plug that I can't find anything to plug it in to-- it's the "Position wire" whatever that is.

Aha!! It's alive!  At first it wouldn't start and I got discouraged, then I slid a little plastic dongle on the underside of the plug in and it started!  I'm back in the saddle again hooray!  Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, tragic.

don't ride without a clutch.

Yea, there's no way you can pull the clutch cable by hand hard enough to disengage it.  If you can then there's a problem with the clutch.
