I would like to install a set of handle bar raiser however...
I am having trouble removing the upper handle bar assembly on my 05 GS. If I understand the steps correctly I must first remove the two nuts that (seems like rubber mounted) holds the handle bar assembly. Then it looks like the handle bar with speedometer will come off. Then I can undo the clams that hold the handle bar and replace it with an after market ones. Am I correct in my assumption?
Also in my last attempt I have rounded the edges of the one of the above nuts. What should I do now. I could not get the detail drawings for this piece at Bike Bandit.
Remove the top bar clamps, there are 4 allen bolt holding the 2 clamps. remove the handlebar. Below it you will see 2 allen bolts that are rubber mounted in the triple clamp below. Under the triple clamp are the nuts which are retained by cotter pins. Remove the cotter pins and then the nuts. Loosen the the fork tube pinch bolts on the handlebar mount and lift it up.
