I was introduced to a TV show called Firefly this spring and since then, I have been hooked. They only made one season before Fox cancelled it, but it is one of the best TV shows I have ever seen. Yes, it is science fiction but it isn't star trek-ish. The stories involve and sometimes take place on a spaceship ~500 years in the future but the stories are about the characters and the relationships they build. (More information here) (http://www.fireflywiki.org/Firefly/AboutFirefly)
The entire series has recently been released on iTunes and a group of fans have organized a mass buying event that we're calling the Firefly Fortnight (http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=19&t=22697)(fortnight = 20 days and the idea is to buy one episode per day) which is starting on the 11th of August.
I want to share this series with people and I would love to see more people buy it (maybe by some stroke of luck we can eventually convince someone to let them make more) so I'm willing to buy 10 people the first episode. However, there are some restrictions.
1. Only people who haven't seen the series before
2. Only people who are willing to consider buying the rest of it (on DVD or iTunes). I'm not asking you to commit to buying it, just be willing to consider the thought.
3. Have made at least 25 posts (not counting O&E and the TF)
3. Of the 10 episodes, 4 are reserved for mods. If no mods claim them before the 11th, then I will just go farther down the list.
4. You have to have an iTunes account (I'll gift the episodes over iTunes)
Other than that, its first come, first serve. Reply to this post (PMs don't count) if you want one of the episodes. I will update this post with a list of who is getting an episode. If your name is one the list, send me a PM with your email address and I will send you an episode.
edit: OK, I wasn't thinking too hard there. There are only 3 mods so I'm expanding it to mods or people with over 1500 posts

Cool. Hook me up. I just got an iPod video. I saw the Firefly movie (That was Serenity, right?) but I've never seen the show.

You are correct about the movie. I have seen most if not all of the series and it is great. One of my favorite eppisodes is Jaynestown. If you like sci-fi then this is a great show.
This is what I get when I try to post quickly at work when I'm tired. Thanks for catching that error, there are 14 episodes on sale (the 2 unaired ones in addition to the 12 that were origionally aired) instead of the 20 that I origionally stated.
BTW, you don't need an iPod to play videos from the iTunes store. You can play them from iTunes as well. They aren't quite DVD quality, but they are definately high quality enough to watch full screen.
IMHO the movie is nothing compared to the series. The movie was good, but the series was much better.
Now with bannerry goodness :thumb:

Well, I don't meet the 1st requirement. And I wouldn't take you up on it anyway, since i have the DVDs, I'd just be taking it from someone else. But guys.. take him up on this... Firefly is an AWESOME series!
I'll give it a shot love Sci-fi stuff, and I have the i tunes account , would be willing to buy the series if the 1st episode is good ( can never have to many dvd's, unless you ask my wife  )
Great series... but don't forget the movie, Serenity.

I updated the list in my original post. Only 2 people so far? :o
The 11th is tomorrow (actually it's the 11th right now where I am, but this is being coordinated in the US so pretend that I'm in a US timezone I shall *yoda emoticon not available for comment*).
I almost forgot, BUMP! :thumb:
I already have the series and the movie on DVD. They are repeatedly enjoyable! (I'm also a Trekkie, but have no DVD colection).
I would, but I have no iTunes account! :P
You could always sign up for one! (http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/) It doesn't cost a dime until you choose to buy something.
I'll give it a shot. I always was into SF.
Cool, one more person and seven left. Remember to PM me your email address or I won't be able to send you the episode.

Zoe: Shoot 'em?
Mal: Politely.
OK, I sent the episode to blue05twin and annguyen1981. I will send one to jen_ once I get an email address to send the episode to.
I also found out that I was mistaken about the iTunes gift process. You do not need an account in order to recieve and play a gift. You just need to download iTunes first.
The offer is still on the table if anyone else wants an episode
Sending PM with my e-mail address! :thumb:
Three episodes sent, still waiting on jen_'s email address.
Any more takers?
Goat - How are ya ...
Got goats ??? :o ...
Starwalt had the whole thing on DVD - I bogarted it. Firefly was preceeded by that crappy ass show with Bill bellamy, the tom cruise wanna be and the saved by the bell chick about cops who like dont have to follow the rules - eeeeeewwwww - sorry ass crap - which actually ran a few weeks longer than firefly. Friday night is death for anything which is when it aired in charlotte anyway.
Cool.
Srinath.
:)
Cool beans! I'm downloading the episode as we speak
