Well, it's not actually small at all.
My '00 GS has ~60,000km/37,000 miles on her.
Never had any real issues with her up until just a week or so back, and it's really becoming a concern.
Every time the tank runs out and starts sputtering (As usual) I'll hit the reserve on the petcock.
Now.
Under NORMAL circumstances, the sputtering will die within a second or two.
Problem solved, I can keep riding.
But lately, when I hit the reserve, the engine will keep sputtering, after-firing and buck like crazy... from what I can gather is fuel starvation (Of course).
What could be the culprit?
The petcock?
Fuel hoses?
Is this the dreaded petcock problem I've always heard about?
Thanks in advance
What happens when you have a full tank and run it on reserve?
it could be a little bit of water in the bottom of your tank?

I don't know.
I'll try that tomorrow when I go to work.
HOPEFULLY, I won't be late
Try switching straight to prime when the bike starts to sputter. If it smooths out and runs fine then there is probably a problem with the vacuum circuit on the petcock.
I went to and from work with the petcock switched over to reserve.
No issues at all.
The tank is full, so I'll have to ride a bit to try out Recreational Anxiety's suggestion.
I'll report back with any info when that comes.
