Hi,
While I've bought a few cars in my day, I'm new to the retail bike world and wonder how much price leeway I could reasonably expect from a dealer, say for example, a new $6000 bike?
I mean, during haggling, would it be common for them to drop the price: $1000, $500, $300, or???
I've never dealt with motorcycle dealers before, so whatever experience you have in this area would be appreciated?
Thanks,
Steve
I purchased my '04 GS500f last fall with 1500 miles.
The dealer was asking $4200, and I was able to get it for $3500
Hi all, this is my first post and I'm very excited to finally start contributing to tha community. I bought my '06 GS500F for 4799 instead of 5199. I also got a helmet and a pair of gloves at cost. I used to work at a dealer so I'm good at this, but I think that it's safe to negotiate at least 300 dollars (or a free helmet if ur paying retail). Be careful on the "freight charges" on new bikes though. I paid 100 dollars on a GS500 but I don't know if one should pay it at all, but then again, this is my first bike buying experience. Hope it helps!
after taxes and everything otd was about $4700. In Atl Ga.
One thing you can do go to a few different dealers in your area and ask them whats the OTD price and what type of deal you will get on gear. Or if you don't feel like driving give them a call and ask.
One of the Suzuki dealer here offers lifetime 20% discounts if you buy your bike from them.
depends on the bike, but generally if you get out the door (tax, title, license, etc) for MSRP I think its a good deal. Highly desirable models will obviously be more, and less desirable or less sold will be a good deal lower (think bandit 1200's, gs500's, etc).
