I bought the bike last saturday, now before i put too much into making it look 100% i wanted to be sure that 1. i liked it and 2. my riding skills were not rusty.
well after a week i have to say although i took 3-4 years off from riding it felt like i had never stopped. so now that i know im pretty safe handling it and definetly am happy with it, id like to spend some time fixing the bike. i have never sanded, painted or ever really messed with the bikes i've owned so any suggestions are welcome.
i posted a webpage pointing out some of the items i want to fix in order to make her look perfect. the little things like a screw cap missing and such i can deal with easily, but if you have any suggestions with how to fix up the fender and the crankcase cover without having to buy new ones, IM ALL EARS.

also not pictured, i have to replace front shocks, they keep bottoming out.

Or, you can replace the whole cover for $27
Fender: you can either cut off the damage (1st choice, least expensive), remove it completely (completely free; gives it that streetfighter/rebel Harley look), or replace it (local m/c salvage yard, or eBay).
The headlamp ring is pretty much as is; I wouldn't do anything to it.
The left-hand engine cover really only needs the sticker. (Or, a Mr. Zoggs sticker :icon_mrgreen: )
id have to agree with scratch, every thing is pritty minnor, you could fibre glass you front fender sand back and repaint, but i dare say you'll get one cheap off ebay any way,
get some crash bars so if it does go down again there won't be any more damage to the covers,

i know they are minor, but i would like to handle them before i forget about them or they get worst. i park the bike outside mostly and would like to do what i can to keep it clean. i'll look into frame sliders just in case.

could i just take this piece off and peel off the emblem, then wash, sand to remove scratches and paint?

could i do the same for this side as well? im thinking i'll also change the oil when i do this cuz otherwise it'll pour out when i remove this side.
anything else i should take into consideration? i know it's seems pointless to go though so much trouble, but 1. i want to play with the bike's workings and 2. although scrapes may give her character id rather it come from other things i add to her.
also along with hardcore engine paint, do i have to clearcoat this with special clear coat or is just painting enough?
i have the same problem with the ignition cover, i was planing on removing it, sanding it down and paint it.
