hi
my bike is using way to much gas it normaly gets 280km til reserve now it is getting 200.
im am riding as hard as i did befor. it has 17600km on it at the moment and i am getting it serviced new week at the stealership.
what do you think the problem could be
mabee leaky fuel line, mabee its running rich mabee stuffed plugs, mabee floats
dunno really they are all just stabs in the dark
hope you get it sorted, if it makes you feel better i only get about 140kms out of 10 litres
dam oh well its getting serviced on tuesday i hope they can fix it because 100km on 7L is crap a car can do better then that
yep it is pritty bad my old nissan deisel 2l could get almost 3 times the mileage i get on the gs for the same amount of gas,
but it was doing 1/4 revs and 4 times as slow :thumb:
I had a bout of increased fuel consumption that seems to have been stemmed by running a bottle of Fuel Systel Cleaner through the tank.
I suspect my carburetors may be getting gummed up by four years of gas and Sta-bil. Had the left one overflow 2-3 weeks back. Since the cleaner, economy is up to near normal again. (Your results may vary.)
Clogged air filters reduce economy, check and see if its blocked but if its being serviced soon it should be replaced as part of the service.
Yes, air filter most likely culprit and a propper service should sort it out. Check the plugs and if it has a black oily look it has been running too rich. The carb cleaning fluid is a good idea also, don't go taking the carbs to bits before you eliminate the obvious and easy stuff. There are more moving parts in a carb than in a woman!
You will find plenty of archived stuff about what the state of the plugs tells you, but the guy doing the service should spot anything like that and tell you.
