I did a search but came up with very little in regards to this question.
I am looking at buying a new pair of boots to match my new bike! :)
What do you guys wear, and why did you choose them!?

Sidi Champion boots

They're comfortable enough to wear all day at the office. Broke them in that way and just kept wearing them...sell for $180 full retail. [waterproof too]
Also, check www.newenough.com for great deals (esp their closeouts and odds & ends).
Do you know if they ship internationally? I could not find any info on their shiiping page!
Im in Australia... (Nice weather though)

I've got a pair of GP's.

I'm sure they will. Paul and Holly at newenough are very accomodating. email them or call them as I'm sure they'd be happy to have your business. Tell them you heard about them on
gstwin.com (as we all should!)...
Sidi Blackrain EVO's

I am leaning towards the Sidi or Alpinestars
However Oxtar look good and they are well priced... anyone own a pair of Oxtars?

$20 Combat boots from the local army/surplus. Because they were $20. Don't follow my lead, i really need moto-specific booties.

Exactly. :)

Good friend had a pair and loved them. I sold them on this site for him when he sold his bike.
I also wear Sidi boots (the women's "Rose")
I like them because they're pretty high on the ankle, but in retrospect, I probably should have bought a "racer" boot with more support. Oh well, these are good for everyday riding.
Went on a bunch of websites looking for boots...had to be at least over the ankle, close, well fitting, good support, comfortable, and WATERPROOF...best prices I found started in the 150-165 range and went up quickly...sooo I decided to take a look in a local Dexter discount shoe outlet...found a pair of leather, nicely lined, over the ankle lace-up boots...comfortable and waterproof. 65 Bucks. A no-brainer. :thumb:
Joe Rocket. Don't remember the model. Not as comfy as they first seemed though.
Street--Sidi On Road
Race--Sidi Vertebra Chromo
I wear normal boots, not motorcycle boots. Nothing fancy, but they work very well.

When I'm feeling squidly, I wear these boots.

One time I got that "between the toe" thing caught on the shifter and fell over at a stop light.

Be careful, those boots don't protect your ankle at all. Might as well be wearing shoes instead. That's why it's important to wear motorcycle specific boots-they are made to protect you in high speed spills, moreso than regular boots are. My boots have extra hard parts in places that will touch down if I fall and are pretty stiff.
Be careful what you choose to ride in (esp bbanjo!).
I got mine from a outdoor place that was going out of business, got them for $30 goretex waterproof 18" high boots that work great.
I love the thongs (a thong is NOT a G-String down under!) bbanjo! :)
They are cheap, have great air flow in hot weather and look cool! But they don't offer much in the way of protection! :nono:
It seems that a good chunk of people don't own a pair of motorcycle specific boots... but its good to see that we generally try and protect ourselves as best we can!

I wear my millitary issue boots. comfy and offer decent protection against spillage.

Nah. No thongs/flip-flops/flaps for me....ever really. Not unless I am carrying a board to the beach.
I've worn the same type of black work boot for about ten years now. They're called Spice Tan Lites (even though they're not tan.....could never figure that one out)
They're MUCH better than the strappers if you have to bail.
I bought the Teknic Defender that New Enough was selling as its May special(they may still have some)and they are amazing. I had regular boots that I bought at department store and these are so much more comfortable and lighter. And the best thing was...they were only $69  I think they retailed for between $175 and $200.

I'd recommend staying away from Joe Rocket Orbit boots.
I got a pair last christmas. They're sturdy and have protected me I have layed various things over onto my ankle.
However, they do not breathe at all and when your feet start sweating, dye from the liner (black) starts bleeding onto your socks. I've had to set aside a few pairs of "riding socks" that all have a very black heel on them from the boots. With some air holes and better liner materials these would have made really great boots.
I wear Wolverine construction boots. They're the one part of my riding gear that isn't official motorcycle gear. I know that real motorcycle boots would have a bit more ankle protection, but the Wolverine boots are sturdy, comfortable, and I already had them because my previous job required steel toed boots.
I just ordered those: http://www.kneedraggers.com/details/Sidi_B2_Boots--34-SIDI-26.html
I'll let you know what I think when I receive them.
I have Alpinestars Tech 4 boots, they're a motocross/street boot, but I haven't worrn them on the GS, indeed I'm looking to sell them.
They look like this
http://www.ridegear.com/rg/item/F-8196/Alpinestars/Tech-4-Boots.html?mv_pc=GBProducts (http://www.ridegear.com/rg/item/F-8196/Alpinestars/Tech-4-Boots.html?mv_pc=GBProducts)
And because they are now an older boot are selling for $100 less as old stock.
I paid somewhere around $180, wore them maybe 4 times, they are a men's 6, so will fit a ladies 7 1/2 to 8. They were comfortable to walk in, but I had trouble feeling my rear brake, but I had a crummier bike then too. I should wear them once more on the GS, I suppose, but I'm looking for something with more feel. What I wear now is a woman's Vega Nitro Matrix, an over the ankle leather boot, which is better than hiking boots, it has inside laces (no catching on footpegs) and velcro flap closures, and has a good sole, is comfortable (which means little protection). It's really a street cruiser boot, but it lets me have the finesse I want on my foot controls, also feels more secure putting a foot down.

So I'm still looking for something that will provide more protection if I go sliding down the asphalt, or drop my 400+ pound bike on my leg. Ladies, any more suggestions out there? I have a wide foot, I can wear small guy sizes too. The Matrix has a wide foot, thick socks will solve that if your foot is more narrow.
I also must admit the only true motorcycle riding gear I don't have is a pair of good boots. I know it sounds vain but just about every boot I look at looks like I'm going out to combat or something. At least my High Tecs ( EMT/ tactical boots) look like athletic shoes when I put my BDU pants on over them and they go up past my ankle so most of the time that is what I wear. I did buy a pair of hiking shoes from LL BEAN and they work really well. They go up past my ankle they have goretex and don't weigh five million pounds but close too it.
So yeah it seems that a good pair of moto boots is quite elusive for most of us.

I;ve got the Puma Urban Flat 2 Motorcycle Boot, they look nice and are comfortable. they actually look like regular shoes when your off your bike.
I got them off ebay for around 90$.

AlpineStar Waterproof (touring style)
They went on the 12,000km outback trip with me and they were awesome. I appreciated the fact they were water proof when I rode through a whole day of monsoonal showers. :thumb:
JOE ROCKET SONIC riding boots, leather and they are waterproof , took me about a week to break them in but now they are awesome. $139.00

that is with the leathers on but they do fit well under jeans.
I am digging those puma's BTW! I might have to pick up a set.
left and right, usually
Army boots :)
After dumping my bike today and grade 3 sprain to my right ankle it is sooo time for a pair of riding boots. Tennis shoes are not good in tip overs!!!!!
Good news I didn't scratch the bike and that's what is important right?
Good old fashioned paratrooper jump boots, $49.95 at your local army/navy store. If the track allows them thats good enuff for me.
TooGoofy, you posted that you have boots, but you were wearing tennis shoes on your moto???? Don't you know that's like putting a whammy on yourself??? :o
The moto gods know the difference... and they will test you. :icon_confused:
Glad the bike isn't scratched, but do hope YOU mend very soon! ;)

I have the Setup boots. They are solid and comforatble. Not to mention cheap as well. Waiho, your Puma Urban's look pretty nice and comfy. I might have to get some of those.
I'm another "just regular boots" person. I have a set of Justin work boots I bought as temporary boots 3.5 years ago when I took my MSF. I paid about $70 for them -most expensive shoes I've ever owned, but I'm still wearing them (although they're starting to get a bit ratty). I've never had a complaint about the ankle protection - they've gotten me through 2 parking-lot type drops and one real crash. The pair I have has a lot of padding around the outside of the ankle, and I think it really helps.
I have these: http://www.webbikeworld.com/r2/motorcycle-boots/oxtar/matrix/ Oxtar Matrix Boots.
Great support and very comfortable. I'm too worried about my ankles to wear non-motorcycle boots.
Anyone know where I can find a pair of boots for under 100 dollars and have a thin toe, meaning not too high from bottom of toe to top of toe? I bought some hiking boots and they are just really thick boots and they barely fit between my shifter and foot peg.
I like the

and was wondering if anyone can vouch for them?

You could also adjust the shifter :thumb: just move it up notch or two. I've done it, cause I didn't like the stock settings (I also couldn't fit some shoes between the peg and shifter). I had to get used to the new set up but it's much more comfortable now!!
PS. Tiday I received these:

I'm wearing them now to see how comfortable they are. I have to admit I love them so far. Unfortunatelly they weren't $39.95 but I don't regret!! The front of the boot is flat enough, but comfortable, so shifting should be nice and easy :thumb:
cheers
