Someone hit my gs500 y2k 2weeks ago in walmart.. Knocked it over in the parking place.
Clutch lever and cable were broken, and some minor stuff (rear view mirror and tail light turn signal)..
Anyways, got the clutch lever installed last week.. and tried to start the bike (put it in neutral after I found out the clutch cable was broken..).. and the red engine light comes on.. and stays on.. No matter if the bike is running (in neutral of course).
Any ideas?
Hopefully i will get my clutch cable in tuesday, and I will be able to drive in 30 feet or so and see if the red light stays on.
You mean the oil light? :dunno_white: Try checking your oil level, maybe you just need to add some.
the far left light?I thought was the 'check engine light'. this light comes on when the engine stalls..
I do need to check the oil.. totally forgot about that too.. Hopefully this is it :) 2 birds with one stone
It isn't written directly underneath the light? I know on my 1996 the far left light is the oil light, and I'm pretty sure they haven't changed the instrument array. Give that oil a check, hopefully thats all you need.
Dude...that's the "low oil pressure" warning light. Not cool. This means that you probably lost a bunch of oil when the bike was knocked over and you haven't topped it off. The light comes on any time the ignition is switched to on and the oil pressure is low. If the engine isn't running...your oil pressure would be low and that's why the light kicks on when the bike stalls.
Check your oil level ASAP and hope you didn't cause dammage by running it that way.
