I've had the bike ('98 w/ 1,600 miles) for about a month now. I'm used to it idling around 1200-1500 rpm's, which it still will do after initial warm up. However, after about 20 minutes of riding (NYC - stop and go) it'll be idling around 2800-3000 rpm's. This is also my first bike, so please forgive the potentially embarrassing question.
Also - I bought the Clymer maintenance book. Anyway to get an owner's manual from Suzuki or elsewhere?

As a bike gets hotter, it begins to run leaner; rpm's go up. Or, the bike is overheating; time to stop and turn it off for a half hour.
Your idling is too high should be around 1100-1300!
I mean after warm up.
When the bike is warm try the idle-screw, it is usually a white or cream coloured plastic screw that you can see under and between the carbs, When "fullywarm" the manual says set to 1100/1300 rpm. I can't remember if clockwise increases or decreases but this should be immediately obvious.
thx for the info. i noticed today that my engine is running @ about 2k rpm when i got to work today. i'll look for that screw to turn it down.
