Title: NorthEast GS Ride Sept. 30th to PA Grand Canyon & area
Post by: LadyJules31 on August 20, 2006, 06:28:51 AM
Just and F.Y.I for everyone...

Chris and I will be setting up a NE ride sometime soon. We were talking on the way home from the Rich Christie memorial ride, and since we (and Paul) didn't get to ride our bikes yesterday, we thought it would be a great idea to organize a ride soon so we can all meet up and ride on some good roads. If it rains that day, we will set up a rain date.

Any dates stand out as being good dates to plan this? We don't have details on when or where yet. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up.  :thumb:

Please post if you'd be interested in attending, and which dates would work best for you.

Thanks so much!

Well first of all, what state, or two, are we looking at?

Onlypastrana,

Yeah that is a little fast to organize a ride.  ;)

I was thinking sometime on a Saturday or Sunday in September. (The only day I can think of right now in Sept. that I cannot make it, is Saturday, Sept. 9th.)

Any other weekend is good for me right now.

No definite details yet, but I'm thinking PA somewhere. The route is not planned yet, so I'm not 100% sure yet though. It's still very preliminary, but I wanted to at least get the ball rolling on things.  :)  Any ideas on where to ride Chris?

Please post other ideas too if you all have any on where to ride. Thx!

I want to do this time!!!  and I'll have 4 to 5 other people who were interested in going also.  Sorry I missed yesterday.  I can't do on Sept 23 for my cousins wedding and I have to find out what weekend my nephew's baptism is in October as well as when I'm going to Miami for a girls out weekend.

I think Sept 9 will work - rain date Sept 30?  I'll check with everyone here.

how abt a Toys for Tot's ride in memory of Rich!  There's got to be a facility or a place in New Jersey/PA that we cld drop off.  Maybe I can coordinate a NJ meet to ride to PA or you PA/NY people can ride to NJ and we could meet up at one of the NJ Turpike rest stops.  I think with everyone knowing ahead of time, we can have a HUGE turnout.  Koganti and I want to start a motorcycle club and I'll get that rolling very soon.  I can post flyers in the local bike clubs.  I know Extreme Machines in Manalapan would let me and I can ask if that the NJ people meet there or if you ride to NJ, Extreme can be the spot.  Maybe they can coordinate a food stand as well as have Toys for Tots there to p/u the toys.  My mind is spinning with so many ideas.  What do you think?  These are just suggestions and I can coordinate on the NJ side.  I have friends who don't ride but will cage it to hang with us.

Jackie, I think that toys for tots ride in memory of Rich is a great idea... but I think maybe that should be something separate from the ride we had planned (which is more like just a chance for everyone to get together, have a good time, and ride some good roads type of thing).

I do think you should set up this Toys for Tots ride in memory of Rich though and start a new post for it with all the information. I would definitely be up for that ride too. I think it's a great idea.  :thumb:

whatever you think is good, just keep everyone advised of the details and like I said I can get the NJ people to meet and then we can head over to you.

Well. Sept. 2-3 and 9-10 no good for me. Wedding and National Guard drill. I don't know about later in the month, but don't let me stop you from having a successful ride those weekends.

Not sure on dates yet... but Sept. 9th was the only date that I mentioned I could NOT do anyways... so no worries.  ;)

I had mentioned Saturday, Sept. 30th to Chris, with rain dates of Oct. 7th, and Oct. 14th if needed. Does that work for everyone?

Pastrami, If it were in PA I would be happy to escort you. Being a native Ridge Runner I know all the routes. And in return maybe you could show me around VT and the ADK's. Do you ski inthe winter? Just wondering, that's how I spen my winters and I always need a buddy. I'm stranded here in NY away from my peeps, trying to meet new ones though.

I just spent a week at Mt Snow last spring. I had an exam there and then just got drunk. I snow board also but i'm not as good as i am on skis. Just let me know when you want to ride. I rode to work today in the pouring rain just cuz I did'nt ride all week. You see, I'm a junkie! :icon_mrgreen: The funny part is that after riding all the way there which was 50 miles. My boss said what are you doing here today...I said ...uuuh you said when I left yesterday that you would see me tomorrow...did'nt you? He laughed and said Oh I never even thought about it. You don't have to stay if you don't want to. But I'm gettin my OT$$$$$$$$$!!

ANTI, Congrats to you on your upcoming wedding! Does the wife-to-be ride too?

PAUL,

Can you make the ride on Sept. 30th? Chris2P's internet has been down, and he's been unable to log onto the site, but he mentioned to me before that he wouldn't mind riding west to meet up with you or others on the site. I think it's a good idea to ride out your way. You can show us around... I also came across some web sites for possible ride destinations. Everyone can check them out and maybe we can decide on going to any of them. Here's the info:

1. The Kinzua Dam  http://www.allegheny-vacation.com/dam.html

2. Pine Creek Gorge (PA Grand Canyon)  http://www.fallinpa.com/visitpa/fallDetails.do?name=Pine+Creek+Gorge  AND ALSO http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/forestry/oldgrowth/pinecreek.aspx

3. (Click on Days 1 through 6 for possible ride destinations. These are all along PA Route 6.)  http://www.visitpa.com/visitpa/detailRoadtrip.pa?id=4&day=4

4. And here's one more link... you can click on different areas of PA to get destinations.  http://www.fallinpa.com/fallinpa/drivingToursCentral.jsp

Let me know what you all think. The tentative date is for Sept. 30th as of now. I hope many of you can make it!!

So far we have the following that can (possibly can) ride Sept. 30th:

1. LadyJules31 (Julie from Allentown, PA)
2. Chris2P (Chris from Montgomeryville, PA-Not confirmed yet.)
3. pdg108  (Paul from Williamsport, PA-Not confirmed yet.)
4. koganti (East Windsor, NJ)
5. jackiei26 (Jackie from NJ)
6. spotswood_suzuki  (Wayne from NJ)
7. Mr.7 (Will you be able to make it from Ohio?)

Hi Jules et al,
Yes, I can make it the weekend of Sept. 30.
That would be great.
I bailed out of the June ride in PA at the last minute because I met this woman, see.... Well, that didn't work out, ugh, but I want to make it this time. I still regret missing that weekend because I never met Rich in person. Damn.
I heard the PA Grand Canyon is nice but too many dirt roads there. Anyone been there and can offer their take?
I'd go for a more cental PA location personally rather than so far north.
Thanks for organizing this Jules.
Also, I too, love the idea of a Toys for Tots Ride in honor of Rich, but we should do that around Thanksgiving. Yes, it will be cold but that's when people are in the spirit of the upcoming holidays. Just my thoughts.
Best wishes,
Todd  (trwhouse) in Lancaster, PA

Jules, will this be an overnight thing like it was in June or just a group ride for the day?  I know it will take some of us Jersey people a couple/few hours to get there depending on the destination.

Nice to see the list is growing.  :icon_mrgreen:

Please let me know if I've missed anyone. (Ginoe?? How about Jason, Steve, Sue, Amanda, Chris??) Are you guys around anymore?

Mr.7, sorry to hear you won't be able to make it. If you change your mind, don't hesitate to join us!

freewheelburner, Jeff... you mean Hunting is more important than hanging out with your new riding buddies and having a great time on the open road?  :nono: I'm just pickin on ya... I understand. My dad is a hunter and so is my bf, so I am used to hearing excuses like this.  ;) (Don't ya know you never get anything the first day of hunting season though?)  :icon_razz:

koganti, Lissa, Nick, Todd & Matt, I'm glad to hear you'll be joining us for the ride! Should be a nice group we're getting together.

Jackie, glad u can make it too! As far as it being an overnight'er... I have no idea at this time. I guess it's up to each individual person as to who wants to make it a one day thing and who wants to make it an overnight thing. Depends how far you have to ride I guess. For myself, I would probly have to say a one day deal. But I'm sure others may want to do an overnight thing?  :dunno_white:

Maybe each person who's going can post up if they want to do a one day trip or overnight stay next to their names? That would be helpful in the planning process.  :thumb:

Maybe Nick and/or Paul can post up some decent places in that area for people to stay overnight for those that may want to make a reservation?

Man, don't check the thread for a couple days and see what happens?

I'm good to go on the 30th.  :thumb:

I've been around the PA Grand Cayon a bunch of times.  There are some good roads around.  All of which make for very long rides.  For most people I would guess that doing it all in one day might be a bit much.  I can cook up a route with some different milages, starting around Williamsport.  There are some scenic spots to hit, and there are plenty of camp grounds around if people want to do that.  It will be getting towards the end of the camping season so I would expect them to be fairly empty.  So...

1. LadyJules31   (Julie from Allentown, PA - One day ride...subject to change)
2. Chris2P   (Chris from Montgomeryville, PA - Not confirmed yet.)
3. pdg108   (Paul from Williamsport, PA)

  I've never gone hunting period. Fishing yes... but not hunting. I think it would bore me to sit in a tree stand all day, but I can imagine when you see a large point buck coming towards you, that you'd get excited about that. Deer meat is yummy. 8) I wanna see pics posted when we get back from the ride, lol ... at least make it worth your while to miss this awesome GS ride we have planned.  :thumb:

Boooooooo!!!! I saw the pics of your bike and in all honesty it looks purely cosmetic.  Do the forks or frame look bent?  If not, just clean off the mud and get a new set of cheapie bike master bars.  A few scratches and a couple of dents shouldn't stop you from coming.

In any case, I'm glad you didn't get hurt too bad

It is more than just the bars  god I wish it was, the controls (directionals and horn and such) are destroyed my perch is broken and the choke is cracked, I have to examine the tank a bit more but there may be a puncture. Hopefully it won't take too much work but I'm done for the season...if you guys plan on camping..I might come in a cage though and hang out

Hi Jules et al,
So have we figured out where the ride will begin? Where will people be staying, for those staying overnight?
Can someone tell us the plan so we can make plans? :)
Thanks!
Todd

Yes... I'm working on it.  Been out of town the last few days.  I'm assuming we will be starting near Williamsport.  Probably very close to the intersection of I80 and I180 since most people will be coming from Jersey and points east.

Is everybody up for a long ride after they get here? Possibly ~200 miles?  Spread out over the entire day with a rest break about every hour and a lunch break at noon?  How far is everybody riding to get here?  What time do we want to start the ride?  I want to make a nice route to get so good roads in, but I don't want to where people out.

I need to look for some camp site/ hotel info.  I mean not like I have ever camped around here.  Why would I camp in my own backyard?

More info to come...

-Paul

For those that would like to meet up with me in Allentown to ride out to Williamsport, it's about a 2 hour ride. I was thinking those who want to meet me at Kmart could meet at 9 am and be out by Williamsport by 11-11:30 depending what time we leave Kmart.

For anyone meeting up with me at Kmart on Tilghman Street in Allentown... here is a link with the address and a map on it.

http://www.google.com/maps?hl=en&ie=UTF8&q=kmart&near=Allentown,+PA&cid=40608333,-75466667,15593043028636628&li=lmd&z=14&t=m

Paul, where is a good place to meet up in Williamsport? Is that a good time for everyone to meet there? (By 11:30 am?) Then we can either have lunch there or ride for a while and then get lunch somewhere else.

I am up for riding to the PA Grand Canyon. Is that the possibly ~200 miles you are talking about Paul? I would love to see that area, so it sounds good to me.  :)

Here's direcetions from Kmart in Allentown to Williamsport.

http://www.mapquest.com/directions/main.adp?go=1&do=nw&rmm=1&un=m&cl=EN&qq=1ADqpk24ofDy6dZ1QBYBA%252fy12X513Ed0QJFYTjKV8E0FEmnhvvW18Cj9j4zbP%252bg8%252f8rkGHAsAd7IN3gA9vfuPNG0WeS3WGOrHGzNv8XJxw%252bQGNG9fQ9SjGZ%252fE6NjjRtowQxN5mBVAnordoDpDt%252fqc9QtDYEJugE58vlrdzdTe5Q%253d&ct=NA&r=f&rsres=1&1y=US&1ffi=&1l=&1g=&1pl=&1v=&1n=&1pn=&1a=4701+W+TILGHMAN+ST&1c=ALLENTOWN&1s=PA&1z=18104-3211&panelbtn=1&2y=US&2ffi=&2l=&2g=&2pl=&2v=&2n=&2pn=&2a=&2c=williamsport&2s=pa&2z=

For anyone that wants to stay overnight... I did a quick search for hotels in Williamsport and came up with this list: (I didn't check pricing on them yet, but maybe Paul can tell us which ones are decent to stay in & not too expensive. Thanks!)

After my research, it will take approx 3 1/2 hrs [202 miles] to get to Williamsport.  Our group is thinking that if we go, it would be better to trailer the bikes there.  Will there be a place that we can leave the trailer?

Pls let me know.  Thank you.

It's about a 2 hour ride on RT80 from NW Jersey.  Maybe the Central Jersians could ride up to North Jersey, we could all get some breakfast at a fine NJ diner off of 80 and then all head out there.  80 is a pretty easy ride, especially once you get past 380 in PA. If we stop at least once along the way, it will be a fairly comfortable ride.  Just a thought

I figure it will be around 600 miles total.........more then I feel comfortable doing in a day......although I did 530 miles for Rich's memorial ride.
I seem to be having problems with carpel tunnel in my right wrist and don't think it would be a good idea to try to push it.  I don't think I can make
a weekend of it, so I am probably out.  We need to make some of these trips alittle closer to NJ!

OK, lots of questions and I have few answers. :)

As for camping this would be the closest place, and very easy to find in Montgomery.

http://www.riverside-campground.com/

Another place fairly close is:

http://www.fun-camping.com/

Never seen this place and its probably 30 minutes or so from the meeting spot.

As for hotels, there is a Best Western near Lewisburg and I'm sure others, all along rt 15 south of I-80.  For the small town route there is

http://www.watsoninn.com/

If everybody lets me know what they are wanting exactly to do I can give you advice.  But I've never stayed at any of these places, why stay at a hotel 10 miles from you house?

I think the best place for everyone to meet would be at the Lycoming Mall, McDonalds.  Its pretty hard to miss.  That will give everybody a chance to rest for minute before we go on the ride.  If your ok to leave the trailers in the mall parking lot you can park them there, if not let me know.  Your welcome to use my driveway, we can make arrangements.

http://www.shoplycomingmall.com/pages/aboutus/directions/index.jsp

At the moment I have a route planned out that is 191 miles, begins and ends at the mall.  It includes 2 other scenic state parks for rest stops, and the PA grand canyon east overlook.  I can make it longer or shorter depending on how everyone feels.  At the moment, it will take about 5 or so hours to complete, with rest stops about every hour or so.  Most of it is easy riding, fun swoopy roads, NO HIGHWAY.  :)  If the weather is good enough this weekend I am going to do a test run and make sure it all works.

Hopefully, this is enough info to get everyone together and start planning out the details.  Let me know if you have any questions!  :thumb:

Paul, that sounds GREAT to me! I can't wait to go and see the PA Grand Canyon and other places you have planned out for us. IMO, I think what you have planned is perfect... not too much, not too little. Any chance you can post a map of the route you have planned for us? (Just curious to see that's all... if not I can wait.) :)

Let's all plan on meeting at the Lycoming Mall, McDonalds, by 11-11:30 am. Does that work for everyone who's going??

If anyone wants to meet up with me at the Kmart on Tilghman Street to ride there, please either post up or pm me so we can make arrangements. Thanks! (If I end up staying overnight, I'll probably just get a hotel someplace nearby. I'm guessing there should be vacancies.)

Remember Jules you will be in the heart of PA on the first day of hunting season. Might not be an issue because it's bow season but you may want to check availability just in case.. ......and if I taga out first thing in the morning don't be suprised if you see a blur of Honda Red flying by you on the route....Just look for the FWBURN on the plate.....

Wow ! You guys are really gonna miss out on a great ride. I ride farther than that just for work some days. And then I go home and ride some more. Trips like this are what bikers live for. If I weren't hunting I would be there with bells on. You may want to reconsider. There isn't any riding like that near you. Trust me I've been everywhere on a bike. I may still go on Sunday if anyone will be overnighting.

Cool, I know where every shot of that was taken.  I've incorporated some of that into the route, I find it a bit bumpy but, you guys may find it a little nicer on the GS's.

I've made a few tweaks to the route, trying to stay off bad roads, but hey, its PA.  Bad roads are hard to avoid :)  Most of our riding will be more open and swoopy with only a few tight parts.  But I think a good mix considering how much ground we will cover.  I'lll have to post up a final route when I get a chance.  Either way I think you guys will be pretty wore out by the time we're done.

For those that would like to meet up with me in Allentown to ride out to Williamsport, it's about a 2 hour ride. I was thinking those who want to meet me at Kmart could meet at 9 am and be out by Williamsport by 11-11:30 depending what time we leave Kmart.

Hi Wild Bill at al,

I live in Lancaster, on the way up to Williamsport.
Anyone want to meet me somewhere here and head up there together?
I could meet you at the Lancaster Reading exit of the turnpike, formerly Exit 24.
Any takers?
Or pick another spot?

hey, i wouldn't mind meeting up halfway. One problem though. I do not have front brakes atm so it looks like no ride unless the pads i ordered come in on time. I bought em from Ron Ayers which is in Virginia so it hopefully wont take long to ship. I also bought racetech springs, fork oil, brake fluid and fork seals so hopefully i get that package and fix these little things before the ride, otherwise im out.

If I don't have to go into work next Saturday, I would absolutely love to go on this group ride.  I've only had my blue '06 gs500f for the past 4 months, but I ride it as often as I can and have racked up roughly 4,500 miles so far.

I live just outside of Scranton, PA... so it's not very far away, and I've wanted to get down to that area to ride before the season's out.

So... are the meeting plans still to gather at the Lycoming Mall, McDonalds around 11 to 11:30 AM?

I'll find out for sure whather or not I need to go into work (Accounting End of the Month crap... hopefully going to be doing it Sunday afternoon instead of Saturday).  And I'll let you know whether to expect me or not.

Yes, that's still the plan.

Am I correct in saying that everyone is just going to meet there, and nobody else will be going to the Kmart on Tilghman Street to meet up for the ride to Williamsport? Just want to make sure. Looks like I'll be riding to Williamsport alone. :(

No work Saturday.   :thumb:

So, I'll see you all on Saturday at the Lycoming Mall's McD's.

I expect that I will be making the trip down solo as well, unless anyone else is coming from the Northeast part of PA that would like to meet and ride.  I-81 South to I-80 West is probably the quickest route from where I am, but I am planning, as of now, to take Rt. 6 West to 87 South to avoid riding the major highways.  I'll continue to check back and see if anyone's coming from my direction.  Otherwise, see you Saturday!

I think Chris has to work, but I'm waiting to hear back from him to confirm (He was going to try to get off work if  he can), and Wayne said it's too far of a ride for him this time, but maybe he'll change his mind?   :)

OK folks, heres the "final" route.  As you can see its pretty much the same as before just some added stuff there on the south end.  Heres a quick run down of how I see it going.

We will be leaving the Lycoming Mall McDonalds parking lot at Noon please try to make it on time, since we have lots of miles ahead of us, it would be good to get out on the roads on time.  :thumb:  You might want to be early to rest up a bit before we head out.

Out we go from #1 and we can all get gas at #2 so everyone is ready to go.  Up to #3 is tight roads newly tar and chipped  to #4 is rt864, curvy but bumpy (welcome to PA!) to #5 is rt87, nice swoopy scenery, after about a hour we will be at #5 Worlds End State Park, we can hang out for 15-20 min and gawk, then take off.

From #5 to #6 rt 154 is a mixed bag of nice tight to bumpy tight roads, some recent patch work should be complete.  West of #6 we will jump on rt14 for just a few miles then hang a left onto rt.414, not the best road but it makes the connection, and good views from the top a hill.  After we pass under rt15 we can stop at a Exxon for a few minutes and regroup/refresh.  We can then continue on and go down over the hill to rt287, nice open and curvy up to Wellsboro, then take all the back roads out to the PA Grand Canyon over look.  There we can hang out take pics etc, theres not a whole lot there, but last time I was there, there was a guy selling asorted maple syrup stuff, ice cream, cotton candy( :dunno_white:), maybe he will still be there.

Then off we go, retrace our route back down rt287, but keep going clean down to the turn off for #10 Little Pine Creek State Park.  This is where we can skip it or not, depending on how everyone feels, its a cool place to stop but the road in and out isn't very nice. Either way, we can then continue down to #11 and either jump on the highway and take the quick way back, or head out through Jeresey Shore and take the back way.  This will take us out over the mountain and through a predominantly Amish valley, back to the mall, or short cut over the mountain and back into Billtown for some eats!  :thumb:  (bargovic, start thinking of a good place to go where we could all go and have a chance of getting a table at 5-6 on a Satuday.  Is there a good Chineese buffet over there somewhere?)

Thats the deal, not the best, not the worst, but it is a loop, and without going to far you get to see some nice scenery and hopefully very little traffic.  222 miles total, 5 or more hours, # of traffic lights between #2 and #7, Zero.  :)

Anyway, all are welcome!  If your coming PLEASE post up before you come that way we can kind of take a roll call before we go.  I'll be checking this thread before I leave my place on Saturday.

-Paul

Paul - Nice planning!

Here are some of my eatery suggestions, not in any particular order(all are in the williamsport area):

China buffet, its at the end of 3rd (the golden strip) if this link isnt that one, its right near there:
http://www.google.com/maps?f=l&hl=en&q=chinese&ie=UTF8&near=17701&om=1&latlng=41247217,-77020571,5186218385898997144

Bull frog brewery(good micro brew, I would need to make a reservation):
http://www.bullfrogbrewery.com/

Valley Inn(good micro brew, new bar and restaurant, few miles outside of williamsport):
http://www.valleyinnonline.com/

The Lodge:
http://www.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=the+lodge,+17701&ie=UTF8&om=1&latlng=41247217,-77020571,787383464697466929

Santinos (good pizza and itallian, 2 blocks from my apt):
http://www.google.com/maps?f=l&hl=en&q=santino%27s&ie=UTF8&near=17702&om=1&latlng=41228333,-77006111,9725136581750243467

OIP( pizza chain ):
http://www.google.com/maps?f=l&hl=en&q=Original+Italian+Pizza&near=17702&ie=UTF8&om=1&latlng=41228333,-77006111,6736802791800722661

We also have the other chains - ruby tuesday, tgi fridays, etc.  I personaly  vote for valley Inn or bull frog, but would go to any. Everyone weigh in and maybe we can come to an agreement of where to go by friday?

I'd vote for one of the local places to try something new, over eating at one of the chains which you can find most anywhere.
Don't let all the corporate chains run out the "mom and pop" stores people!!!
Seriously though, I'd like to try out the Bull Frog or the Valley Inn, but I'll eat anywhere 'cause I'm not picky.  So, whatever the consensus may be, is good with me.

I'm getting real excited about this trip.

Thanks for planning, what looks and sounds like, a great route Paul.
And thanks for looking up all those eating options bargovic.  ... now I'm hungry.   :icon_mrgreen:

Awsome eatery suggestions!  :thumb:

I didn't even think of the Valley Inn, that could work into the route really well.  We can all take a vote on Saturday. :)

I didn't made the list but earlier I mentioned I was thinking about it.  Talked with the wife and we decided we're going to stay for the Northwestern game.

Looks like a great ride, wish we could do it.  Have fun and have some microbrew (after the ride)!

Chris2P called me tonight and confirmed he is NOT going to make it.

I won't be going to Kmart in Allentown in the morning since nobody is meeting me there, lol. I'll just head to the McD's to meet you all there.

I'll most likely stay out there for the night. I'll check back here in the morning.

I was going go up until today when the doo doo hit the fan... our team's project is coming to a close and we're a little behind so I get to spend this most beautiful Saturday sitting in my effing cube testing software.  Isn't that just awesome  :thumb:

oh well... maybe next time

Hi Jules et al,
Actually, I was planning to go until today and now I have other commitments.
Have a great ride and I hope the weather is nice.
I will get there with you all one of these times!
Best wishes,

I am planning on getting there tomorrow by 11 and I intend to ride home tomorrow night after the group ride and dinner, unless I end up being way too exhausted... but, I'll figure that out tomorrow.  I'll post again tomorrow morning before leaving, just to let you know I woke up and am on my way.  I'm not much of a morning person on weekends (or any day for that matter), but for a day of riding I think I can get myself up before 8 instead of sleeping until 10.   ;)

Burrrrrrrrrrr.  I finally thawed out.  And its still raining here. Oh well, a wet cold ride is better than no ride. Heres the one pic we took.

We were talking about trying a re-do of the ride again next weekend if the weather is nicer... anyone interested?

Brrrr... is right.  I had to kick the heat on when I got home.  :)  I'm up for another try next weekend if anybody else is.  I'm free the next few weekends so if the weather looks good maybe we can get one last big group ride in this year.

That's a great pic of you guys... Sorry I couldn't make it. I wasn't able to get much sleep last night and didn't think I should ride that far while being tired. I guess it's kinda good I couldn't make it... it rained all day here and was quite chilly outside.

Looks like a nice place you stopped to take the pic. Where was that taken? (Which of the stops?) Did you guys do the whole loop today?

I would be up for a ride next weekend if others are too. Keep us posted...

You're absolutely correct.  Even though it took me a good two hours wrapped in blankets to get my body temperature back up to normal.  :icon_mrgreen:
And I would definitely be in for next weekend.  Hopefully the weather will cooperate this time.

That pic was taken at the World's End State Park, roughly 50 miles or so from where we started out at the Lycoming Mall.  At which point we were sufficiently wet and freezing.  So we decided to cut the trip short after taking advantage of the parks hand dryers to dry off and warm up.  Nick and Paul headed back South on 87 and I took 87 North back home.

I don't have gear for sub 40 dregree rides, so unless we get some seroiusly freakish weather, I'll be done for the season.
