Title: Carb screws
Post by: plusultra on August 22, 2006, 11:05:20 AM
Well, after drilling out the evil factory screws off my carbs (don't know if this makes a diff. but it's an 06), I went to o'reileys and bought the closest fit which was a m4-0.7 X 16mm.   They seem to be a good fit, but they're way long and the work doesn't look very professional.  Does anyone know the right size for these screws?  cheers

12mm. I use 12's on the back side (where the threads need to stay clear off the fuel passage, and 16's on the front side. That is why when you buy a kit from me its got 2 different sizes of bolts. I wrote about this too loooooooong back. I have receoved carbs back from people with the bolts on wrong ... and I go WTF ... Anyway I'd leave the 16 there on the front, but swap to 12's on the back side.
Cool.
Srinath.

Thanks srinath,  Now that I think about it I do have the original screws in the back, it'd be impossible to fit 16's there.  However, I'd like to replace all of them with allen screws so that it looks professional and its easier to remove next time.  Really I'd like for the dealer to not even know I messed w/ the carbs since I want to go get the sewing machine noise fixed under my warranty.
