Title: Adding brake fluid
Post by: wever411 on August 22, 2006, 06:38:46 PM
I'm trying to add brake fluid to the front reservoir while on the centerstand since it was at the lower mark. I remove the cover and diaphragm and fluid starts leaking out since it is tilted forward. So how do I position the bike so the reservoir is not tilted? I've searched the other threads but nobody says anything.

Either turn the handlebars til it is level, or loosen the bolts and rotate it til it is level.  Tighten the bolts back, before removing the cap.

Better check your break pads. Usually you should not have to add fluid. When it is low, the pads are worn and probably should be replaced. If you add fluid and then later change the pads, you will have to remove some of the fluid.

Well, it's only been a little over 600 miles since I got the bike new. I looked at the pads and there is a lot of material left. I also checked the connections and see no leaks. But since I opened the reservoir and fluid leaked out, I definitely have to add some.
