Title: clutch messed up
Post by: porsche4786 on August 23, 2006, 10:56:47 AM
so i was riding home yesterday and about half way there my clutch got all out of wack. I've tried adjusting it at the lever and down on the transmission. I can't seem to get it where it used to be, I want it to start to grab about half way but still have a handle that isn't flopping around. If I get it where it used to be the handle seems to have too much slop, right now it's grabbing a little after half way out and the handle has a tiny bit of slop. It just doesn't feel right having the clutch grab soo late.

So this happened suddenly, or did you notice it gradually getting worse?  Did you try lubricating the cable and readjusting after that?

It was like i let the clutch out and then the next time it was weird, I did notice that the locking thing near the clutch was loose. I didn't relube anything, it's an 05 so it shouldn't need that. It just seems to grab further out now, I think I'll just leave it how it is, but I liked it more before.

How is that a bad sign? I think the locker screw thing near the clutch handle got loose (because of vibration) and then the clutch cable loosened, plus when I put on the SM1 bars I don't know if I tightened it up at all.
