I've been logging on to this site for a few years now and I'm always intrigued with how much time you guys have to spend on modding your bikes, especially as I don't seem to.
Then I realised it's because you chaps live in the northern hemisphere and get a real winter. One of the best things about living in New Zealand is that we can pretty well ride all year round. This means that I ride my GS to work every day, rain, hail or shine. It also means that I can only really look at doing any work on the bike in the weekends. With a wife and two teenage sons this doesn't happen!
I've upgraded the rear supension, fitted a screen, but that's about the extent of my modifications. I'll get my fork oil changed at my next service.
Still I do get to ride pretty well every day (apart from two days in the last five years due to severe flooding) so I'm not really complaining.

Turd have you jetted your bike yet?
Have you dialed in your suspension?
Set sag?
If you lower the front end/raise the rear you'll need to re-set sag on both ends.

I have a table in my house that has clip-ons, a muffler, lunchbox and a bunch of jets...with no home.

I have the same problem I told the wife we were not going to touch the gsxr's. We are going to leave them stock. . . that lasted 1 week :oops:
I ride the bike to work everyday, work 60hrs a week, and yet still find the time to do mods :laugh:
Year round ... winter ... I hate summer, I ride and mod and make parts all in winter ... OK I ride and fiddle in summer too ... but I hate it ... winter ... what winter ... OK NC does get cold, but I hate the heat ... cold is much better.

actually I tend to do all my modifications in the warmer months...then I spend all the cooler months fixing the bike...and the rest of the time seems spent on waiting for parts to arrive to modify the bike then fix it.
I'm with Turd. I only mod cause I can't keep still.
But I have noticed that I've NEVER modded any vehicle during the winter. It's too cold to stay outside for even a couple minutes. It's bad enough I gotta shovel snow.
Yeah I ride my bike every day too and I find it hard to do mods. Eventually I get annoyed enough to fix it though. I cut off my muffler and then hung the new one with a hose clamp and silicone to get the position right. yeah.........I rode it like that for about 4 months, untill it almost fell off. Then I rode it for about 3 weeks wit no muffler :cookoo: yeah, my neighbors love when I get home at 1:00am. Finally it's properly bolted and welded in place, it only took 5 months.
The sand here on the beach is white like snow, and that's also what gives the gulf that sweet Emerald Blue color, oh yeah I ride all year long too. And I've always loved taking apart something that's OK just to see how it works, or to make it better, or to make it faster. :laugh: :cheers:
I live in Texas. Winter lasts 2 weeks. I mod my bike because I like to tinker.
I "mod" my bike when I break things when I fall over....no fall overs since I had him lowered, though. :icon_twisted:
This time of year it is 80F and 100%RH in the garage at night, 100F & 50%RH during the day.
If I'm doing anything with the bike, it will be in motion.
I'll wait till winter to mod.
being a kiwi is no excuse not to mod, get to it :icon_mrgreen:

there's ALWAYS time to mod...I did many of mine on my lunch hour at work...
