I have recently been informed that my fuel tank must be replaced due to excessive rust. I have owned the bike for just over one month. This past week I noticed gas fumes protruding from my pants; this lead to an inspection of the fuel tank where I identified one rusty pin hole and several additional rust bubbles. I have been searching for a new tank to replace my mess; the only problem is they seem to be going for $400-$500. Is there anyone out there who might have one for sale or know of a place where I might find one for a more reasonable cost? I have been monitoring eBay, but for the cost I fear I will get another tank that is rusting out.
My bike is a 1994 GS 500 E. The color does not matter. Also are there other substitute tanks for the original?
I appreciate all the help I can get.
Thanks,
Go Cougs!!!

Not a rusty tank expert but ebay would be your best bet. Also I think you can Kreme your tank to fix small leaks? If I'm wrong someone please correct me. And don't show your (http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i134/dlchris1/cul2.gif) about it.
Sorry new emote I found
I think that you can coat the inside of your tank, it's at least worth a shot. JC Whitney has kits, as well as most car and bike shops. Just do a good job on the prep and let it cure fully before using. Good luck
I also got a '94 gs 500e about 3 weeks ago, and guess what? yep, the tank was leaking. I know about the $469. Suzuki charges for a brand new tank! :cookoo:
What I did is: I found a tank on e-bay and got it and installed it yesterday. Two problems thoug!; the tank is of different color, and my bike has a canister (the tank its different) which after all I learned its no big deal.
ADVISE: check the underside of the tank before bidding on one(on ebay), to make sure its the same as your bikes.
