Can you help
My gs has been leaking fuel from the air filter box and i'm 100% sure its the foats in the carbs but not sure and the floats look alot different to the ones out of a gsx750 that i'v worked on before, i know my flaots will be ajustable but they dont look it ...WHAT DO I DO :dunno_white:

do a search, :D to adjust the floats you have to bend the little metal tab, not very accurate, have you put the hoses on the bottom and check the float level??
it may be the needle valve or seat isn't sealing properly(its whats connected to the floats)

New GS - 01 and later floats are almost non adjustable ... very very very stiff ... Older ones bend in the wind ... :thumb: ... :o ...

An easy way to check the float level is to attach a length of clear tubing to the float bowl drain, and hold the end up above the top of the float bowls. Open the bown drain and the fuel will go into the tube and indicate where your fuel level is. Remember to have the petcock on prime. Before you start bending or replacing things, give your carbs a good cleaning. if a piece of sh*t gets stuck on the float valve, it won't seal and the carb wil overflow. If you don't have a fuel filter this is very likely to happen.
i have done the clear tube thing and the 1st carb was fine but the tube for the 2nd carb the fuel was about 2cm higher than the bowl... wat shall i do, I cleaned the carbs out about 2 months ago, there was a bit of dirt in there but should be clean as a wistle now

A lot can happen in two months, and all it takes to keep that float valve from seating is one little chunk of dirt or rust. If you didn't put a fuel filter on your bike than it's a 90% chance that it's a piece of dirt or rust. There's no reason that your float level would suddenly change, so clean the carb before bending that tab. Also get a fuel filter and put it on your fuel line just before the carbs. I put a sintered metal filter on mine and I haven't had any problems with the way the bike runs but when I pulled my float bowls a couple of months ago to change my jets there was a fair bit of very fine dirt/rust in the bottom of the float valves. I think that a paper filter ellement will do a better job at filtering than the metal ellements. That should eliminate the problem.
