find an "Open Box" item at Circuit City or Best Buy.  I got a brand new camera for 110 bucks, and all I had to do was buy a new battery (30 from the local camera shop). MAKE SURE that it has a "Video In" feature.... VERY important.

so that'll solve your camera issue.

then go to helmetcamera.com or whichever site you so choose (i know there is a better one than that, at a better price)... and viola.  300 bucks max, and you've got yourself a good set up that can by swapped out to different bikes when you upgrade.

I'll upgrade, but the GS will always be lurking, waiting to destroy the egos of a few 1k riders.
