Title: Another paining question
Post by: Bill_46 on August 28, 2006, 11:01:09 AM
I am in the process of painting my suzuki 1400 intruder.  Just the body parts, not the frame.  Has anyone done their own painting?  If so, I would love to get your process from start to finish.  I have already attempted this but had a few problems, so will start over.  Here is what I do so far:

Strip off old paint, sand, clean all parts, then primer.
After primer, I wet sand until it is very smooth.
Next, use tack cloth on parts to remove any dust, and then paint.
Let paint dry for a few days and then apply clear.

The problem I am having is that i always seem to get a bit of dust on the parts no matter what I try.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  I am doing this in a garage and it is clean.  If someone has attempted this, I would greatly appreciate any tips.

Thanks, Bill

how long b4 you wait to put on the clear depends on the paint you are using. in my expierience its been more like a few hours before applying the clear, not a few days.
