Its an 02 and has 83K. I have been in it and its fine from the passenger's point of view.
I am buying it from a co worker. Any problems with them. Anything Good ???
I know its off topic, I'll O&E it in a bit - but I wanted to get some visibility cos I have to make the decision by later today.
Cool.

I don't think the transmissions are that great, it's a Jatco IIRC, you'll want to change the fluid often.
Checked Consumer Reports yet?
i used to have a dimante as a work car it was that stupid tiptronic gearbox bollocks,(i hate autos) so i didnt like it in that respect, the tip tronic sort of worked like a manual but it didnt react as quickly as a manual would, and if you were in too higha revs and you wanted to change down it wouldnt go untill the revs had dropped enough. pain in the arse!!
because its a front wheel drive the understeer was horrific and the car is built for comfort(excutive use) so the suspension left alot to be desired(i like a firm ride with quick reactions)
other than all those points it was nice to drive comfort wise it had enough power from the v6, not the worse car ive driven nor the best, but it never broke down.
if it was a manual i'd probly buy it, if it was rear wheel drive i would probly buy it if it was a manual rearwheel drive i would defently buy it.
all my biased unreliable opinion of course :icon_mrgreen:

This is true with all of these types of set ups. All transmissions now-a-days are shifted by electronic solenoids. As a "feature" some manufacturers will offer a way for you to control when the solenoid commands the shift. There is always a delay associated with this, and to protect the vehicle from driveline damage the computer is programmed to not allow shifts at an unreasonable RPM.

sorry can't help you ....ford boy work in the parts bizz some stuf is expensive
I thought this is a GS forum? :icon_rolleyes:
Ford truck boy here too ... had a 4 liter mazda, man that truck was solid ... and fit me like a glove ... then have the 4.6 V8 extra cab long bed F 150 - never giving that up, its carm SUV, truck, work horse, assault vehicle, and junkyard  (ask anyone that has seen it) all in 1 ...
Had a Expedition 5.4 ... man was it fun, but I had to give it up ... various reasons.
Coworker has this thing, and maybe I want to buy it, else wifey buying a new ass car ... a 06/07 corolla in fact. If the mitsu dont work ... its off to the new ... so sorta a last ditch effort to stay out of the red.
Yea Its a Mixie bixie ... but keep them ideas comming ... is comming in handy.
Edit :- And dgyver - tell me, where else do you suggest I look for the sharpest and most sensible bunch of ladies and gentlemen who appreciate the effeciency and the value of something. Its the first place I stop in ... even it its for a damn virago electrical problem, I have had starwalt and several others sort me out better than any virago site ... which is the best of the rest IMHO.
Yea off topic - yes, O&E bound - hell yes, but not before I get some of the best minds thinking and telling me what I need to know.
Cool.

I used to sell cars and we used to get A LOT of diamantes, high mile cars, u know, im taliking 150k+ and we sold them only on 2 yr financing plans. What I'm trying to say is they'l last 150k mi. to the average user, and still have around 2yrs more to go (otherwise we wouldn't have financed them). It seems to be a solid vehicle, though I've had bad experiences with mistubuishi transmissions. I'd recommend you buying it, but make sure the price is right.
mom had one. they suck. not meant to go much past 83k miles...oh, the current owner knows this I guess.
mom's needed new suspension ( Maybe I used the sport setting too much?) way too early.
Whaaaat ... the current owner is clue less, he didn't even know where the tilt steering control is. The suspension has adjustments ??? that would be a first ... Sport setting - so what got busted ???
Cool.

yadda yadda yadda.... :P
BUT...this *is* the first sensible thing he's said in ages! :kiss3:
its a mitsi. :) it will go if you ask me . my mom had a marage and it had 120k on it before she sold it and the only problem it has ever had was a small oil leak around the pain . i own a 01 eclipse gt it has 106k on it and its still running strong and i run that car in the ground hard. only problem i have had with it is a/c so far . dont want to jenix my self . only thing i could say is if you do get it . give it a minor tune up . (plugs wires ect. ) look on the hood and see what kind of plugs it has in it . if it has platium plugs in it there normaly good for 60-100k. test drive it . get on it run it in the ground and see how it acts. if it shifts hard or just dont sound right . then back out

how about a escort ZX3 5 speed low miles 02 model? 4k range burg.....my ranger guy just fixed it upright fender and rear bumper
ive never had a mitsu myself, but +1 on them having shitty transmissions.
buddy of mine had an old bronco II. it was built ford tough, all the way up to around 200K miles, but it had a mitsu built transmission.
that truck went thru 3 transmissions, and after the 3rd one blew, my buddy just let it bite it.
