Title: Adjusting Valve Clearances
Post by: Tincan on June 29, 2003, 04:36:42 PM
I am waiting on my service manual to arrive so that I can check
my valve clearances.  Has anyone done this themselves and if so
do you have any suggestions or experiences with this.   I have
opted out of having the dealer do this since they are backed up
and I have already exceeded the 600 mi.

Currently I have:
1.  Cleaned and lubed the chain.
2.  Tightened bolts,  the only ones I found needed to be
tightened where some of the frame bolts and the lower
    oil pan bolts.
3.  Changed the oil and filter.
4.  Added a slight amount of distilled water to outside
    battery cells.

Oh yeah, I am enjoying my bike even more now that I can twist
up to 8000rpm now.

2002 GS500,  fenderectomy, progressive springs, sport mirrors,
Vampire fairing.   more mods to come......
