My pretty blue bike is broken....yes I wrecked, yes I'm ok...pictures will follow....my bars and tank are pretty much destroyed..i think I can fix my tank and I have extra paint from the first time I painted it..
So what happened? I was following FreeWheelBurner (Jeff) we'd only gone 4.2 miles  twistie road no corner signs...none...corner came up too fast, I almost recovered, hit a lip and some gravel and flung myself into a field...I think..idk Jeff will have to comment lol... I promise pictures as soon as i pop some tylenol...
heres what i remember..the corner came up really fast, it was down hill, there were no signs or anything, i saw Jeff like lock on his brakes and he almost wrecked too, there was car across the yellow lines going the opposite way, i panicked when i saw the car, moved over and couldnt make the corner, my rear tire broke lose and when i got it to grip again i was right up, not laid over, and then my front started to wobble from side to side and i was like f%$k..this is gonna be worse if i try to save it so i just let it go into the field and i landed in a ditch further down in the field a good 10-15 feet from my bike basically i remember feeling the gravel under the tire as it went down seeing grass then being dizzy cause i was flipping through the air
The corner: (http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a1/Onlypastrana199/crashcorner.jpg) I ended up where I was standing when I took this...
Glad you came out of it safe, bummer 'bout the bike though
NO MORE CRASHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Glad you're ok though!
Glad you're allright! Aw, man, sorry to hear about the bike, though. Never give up! Look were you want to go...etc. It looks to be an off-camber turn with lots of debris strewn about by cars. That's a mild downhill, but yep, gravity is against ya. Were you on the brakes at all?
the reason i gave up is because there was a telephone poll and a steel pole about 10 feet apart, i went inbetween them, instead of hitting the pole, I was really close to it.. I was on the brakes but I started to lock the wheel so I went easy on them..I never hit pavement only grass and dirt, I went down on the left side, not the right, so I flipped around sideways I guess ? :dunno_white:
Good judgement! :thumb: Hope you feel better, heal up. Get some rest, drink water; no beer.
If I did something wrong I really want someone to tell me so I don't f%$k up again
Pics!

It's not a total loss. With some time and money, you'll be back on the road in no time! :thumb: But that is how it is with everything isn't it. :dunno_white: I just hope I'm not next :o
I'm so glad you're ok. Good judgement too BTW.
Rest up and take it easy.
RRRRR!!
That could have been soooooooooooo bad. You're f%$king lucky as shaZam! you didn't go under someone tires or break your spine on a phone pole. GODDAMN!
How did the corner sneak up on you? From the pic it looks like a 30 MPH corner... Maybe a 25 MPH corner... What's the speed limit on the road and how fast were you going?
f%$k! I'm gonna buy a cruiser and hang out with old people...
I didn't see you mention any injuries... I'm assuming you were in full gear and you're just a little banged up.

I know how lucky I am..I kept thinking about that all day...someone is definitely watching out for me...
That corner wasn't marked, I knew there was a corner but I didn't know how sharp it was and I should have slowed way down..that was very very bad judgement on my account....normally there are corner warnings/signs speed limit signs and there was nothing on this road..not even a speed limit sign so in NY that means they're 55mph roads...it WAS my fault I'm not trying to blame it on anything other than that to complicate things there was this car that wasn't on the right side of the lines..it almost took out Jeff and barely got over the yellow lines before I passed it
(http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a1/Onlypastrana199/crashmockup.jpg)
I was wearing gear:
Scorpion helmet has one little scratch, I don't think I even hit my head and if I did, I didn't really feel it but I'll be getting a new one
Fieldsheer Breeze Mesh women's jacket, I hit my elbow slid for while, I have some grass stains and dirt, help up good
AlpineStar Octane Perf'd Leather Gloves some dirt on the the palms not even a scuff
Harley Boots, over the ankle no issues there
I have a bruise on my knee I think from the tank :dunno_white: my neck is sore like when you get off a roller coaster but not neck injury sore, my moms a nurse and checked me out I'm good to go just really sore...
And I'm not pregnant but I thought I was the other day when I ate a jar of pickles and then peanutbutter out of the jar with a spoon..
Any other questions?
according to that picture ... u were in the wrong lane?
 yeah after the car passed me and i lost it in the corner

Smooth or Crunchy peanutbutter? (I'm partial to Crunchy myself.)
Appreciate the explanation and sorry your riding your GS is haulted for a while. Glad you came out of it more shaken than hurt.
As far as what you did wrong, it sounds like you just came in too hot for the angle and style of corner. An off-camber, downhill road is rather tricky. It's easy to see loss of traction easpecially if braking while leaned over. The no-no is braking in a curve -- gotta scrub off speed before the turn, or pressing harder during it. Remember it's Slow (to a suitable entry speed) - Look - Press (to initiate lean) - Roll (to maintain stability).
May both your and your bike heal quickly. :)
good crash....you walked away...much better than 5-6 days in ICU on a morphine drip....mmmmm, morphine, drool :icon_lol:
just push this button when it hurts....
if you get h-bars and a mirror(and a wash)....you can ride the bike as is.....just not as pretty
ugly bikes need luvin too
(just ask Srinath..... :icon_mrgreen:)
Wow, really sorry to read about your accident, hope your soreness goes away. Bike can be fixed really glad you were not hurt worse than you are.
AJ would really be surprised if you were pregnant  on that note my wife might be :o
ah man. that sucks. good thing you were thinking clearly-at least AFTER misjudging the corner entry. Looks like (based on total guessing out my ass since I wasnt there...) you could have target fixated, which prevented you from looking through the turn..or you got on the brakes too hard leaned over...I dont know. I'm guessing. Just glad you're alright and the bike isnt totalled...
hope you get back on the road quickly.
Glad you are ok, sounds like you rationalized every little buck/jolt from the GS.... I hope I am so collected when it is my time to crash again.... first (only) time I lowsided there was gravel involved in a similar turn (downhill, blind turn) so I didn't even have a chance to think.... only slide.
Slide, slide... to the right, to the right, now dip baby dip O0
glad you are ok :thumb:
man that sucks and right after the paint job too. Really glad to see that you are alright and werent' seriously injured. Get to feeling better, slap some bars and a mirror, cover up the rust with the aformentioned paint and ride as is. Then just get a new tank off ebay or from a junk yard if you have them around and paint it to match. Are you planning on taking the dents out of the tank or just covering them to make her pretty again?
After a closer inspection last night, my subframe is pretty tweaked, I'm gonna try to straighten it but we'll see how that goes I might end up with more mods than I anticipated. The mounting tabs are broken off the side plastic, but the tank, plastics, fender and chainguard will go back to my Uncle for his opinion since hes the bodywork/painter. I'll prolly send the headlight up too and frame for a white coat..most of the things that are broken (aside from the paint and I have more than enough left over from last time) I intended on working on this winter anyway.
that sounds like a plan, its great to see that you are taking it alright :thumb:
Well I finally caught up with this post. From what I saw in my mirror, she locked up the back break right away. I saw it smoke then she hit the gravel and got squirrely then maybe a highside and some cartwheeling. She almost pulled it out. I posted the picture I took in the Gallery under bike pics. i couldn't get it to post here. It clearly shows the skid mark. The pole is just to her left out of the pic and by my judgement missed it by no more than 2 feet. Thank God! Don't even like to think about this but I thought it might help. She did just fine. Never tried to lean it once she locked up which saved her alot of pain.

There you go. I think my pop up blocker is messing up my deal here. Aint she cute!.....
OMG - A special, well-admired and well-loved person from heaven was watching over you!!![/b]
So can we see pics of your bruises?
Lissa, I just got done talking to the guy from the State and he said that we should have called the cops so there was a report. Never thought of that since I hate the cops. I may go back to Middleburg tomorrow. If I do I will get some pics of the lack of signage and more of the scene. He said you have a legitmate claim but to not comtact the County until we have our proof because they will just go and put up signs and say they were there. I amy need your address and such for a Police report tomorrow.
lol damn i was thinking about that today too...maybe video of the road? hard to edit out signs so they cant say we photochopped anything
Are you making the "honey i crashed but im ok phone call" in that picture
 actually I think my exact words were "baby I crashed but im ok"
I will do what I can tomorrow I have a vid camera. I will talk to the cops and see what they say. I'm all for stickin it to them. I can always call you when I'm there with the cop.
ok cool. Thanks Jeff I really appreciate this
Anything for you Pastrami... :cookoo:

Oh... I can't be mad at you any more... So cute in that little jacket... I just wanna pinch your cheeks.
Whew, glad to see you are ok. That is very close to my crash in spring of 2003. It was a hard right that wasn't marked. It had a decreasing radious and gravel. It's like I was set up for failure. Looks earilly similar. My bike looked alot like your, but a bit worse too. Mine bounced end over end. Sometimes it feels good to only be sore (when your not hurt).
-Anti 8)
TRUE DAT!!!!!
I dont' know how long you've been riding or anything... and I've never been in the situation you were in (rogue car across double line).
Do you know how to hang off? The only thing I can think of that might have helped might have been to use some dirtbike/racer technique:
- Shifted your weight way forward to the front-right forward corner of your bike and put a LOT of weight into the turn by shifting your body as close to the (direction of) the front right blinker as possible.
Shifting your weight like that makes entering hard corners easier, and hanging off (if you know how) will maximize your rate-of-turn at whatever lean-angle the bike is at. It is harder to make adjustments from that position... but it reduces the amount of 'bucking' a highside delivers to you a little bit.
Someone who knows more about riding than me might be able to elaborate.
Also... it might have just been saferr to run off into the grass than potentially run wide and hit an oncoming car!
I'm also glad your ok .... maybe Rich was helpin you out? :)

Rich was kicking her ass for mocking me for wrecking!
Just messin 'strami..
I've been riding on the road for 4 years, rode MX before that..normally I'm fine in gravel most of the roads around here arent paved and my driveway is crushed stones..and its not a short driveway..theres alot of things I should have done...not panicking for one..hanging off would have helped me I bet..but I'm just learning in that sense..I'm not an overly aggressive rider..I stay close to the speed limit and take it easy...as far as the weight part..:dunno_white:
Kim I bet he did...he kicked me over cause I was messing with Nick  but really I missed that telephone pole and not by much...someone was helping me out...
I know the lean was all that saved me. but once your locked up there's not much you can do but go straight. I was proud of the way she handled the bike. If not for the gravel she would have got it under control for sure.
