OK.. I know most here say the MSF gives you an insurance discount... My agent says that its BS...
I know for a fact that your insurance rates are effected more by your credit rating and not so much your driving record or classes you take. I know its BS and doesnt make sense but...
Anyone have documented proof that you get any kind of discount for the MSF?
I took the MSF and the experienced rider course... I have Progessive insurance and they dont care if you have MSF or not.. I pay $69 a year and cant complain one bit...
Even if I saved 10% ($6.90) a year its not a big deal
But anyone wanna back up the "discount claim" ?
Uh.. I got a course completion card, and it said something to the effect of 'give this to your insurance company to save some dough'.
I have Progressive and I live in Kansas. They do not give discounts for MSF'ers.
-Turd.
As stated in a previous thread (maybe more than one), it depends on the state. Here in MA, we get a 10% discount
Of course that might be the case because they make us pay for the course here in MA. :dunno_white:
I know some states are free, so I don't expect them to give discounts.
Just in case you didn't see the other thread that you started this "argument" in...

aye we get the discounts here as well
no discount from Progressive for MSF in Cali....
But I believe Gieco???? does??? I dunno... I remember that from when I was shopping for coverage, although gieco was higher.
Don't think it's based on state but more along who's your insurance provider. Geico does offer discounts on MSF, progressive does not, peach state does, statefarm depends .
Anyway how does credit rating determine insurance quotes? I know I got a huge drop in my insurance when I hit 25 ( had very very bad credit score ) and again when I got married ( bad but not very bad credit score), went up when I got divorced ( had decent credit score ) . . when down when I got married again ( good credit score) and it's been stable for the past few years ( now I have excelent credit score ).
During this time only had 1 speeding ticket and no accidents.
I insured my GS for 319 before the MSF (got high limits on everything because I like "feeling" covered). Then I took the class, presented my card to my Liberty Mutual agent and it bumped all the way down to 256.
I'm in CA.
AFAIK theyre required to give discount on rates here
Ok...
So far only two of you has shown PROOF...
Kinda

About the discount.... Many threads ago, it has already been stated that living in a certain STATE(s) will get you a discount.
You want proof??? Here's you f-ing proof - directly from an insurance web site.
http://www.mcinsurance.net/discounts.htm
According to the website, they insure people in Connecticut - Rhode Island - Maine - New Hampshire - Colorado - Utah.
So there!!! Stop with the "there is no such thing as an MSF insurance discount"
:thumb:
that was the key word.. not just saying you have a discount.. PROVE IT :thumb:
Lets see on someones declartion form or other.. where they get %10 for MSF

I started this thread as to not "jack" the one about "buying a new bike"
If a insurance agency pulled your credit score wouldn't t hey have to have you sign an approval? Just wondering because I never signed a credit release from state farm. Or so far anyother company I have used to insure a auto. State Farm, and peach state are the only two companies I have ever used.
They say 92% of Insurance Co's use your credit rating to determine your rate..

You lose.
And no, I don't know why a big pink spot showed up.
:thumb: Awesome.. Thats what I was looking for :thumb:
I wasnt trying to win anything, and I never said that it wasnt true.. Here in PA we get screwed and dont get a discount.
Thanks Alpha
No problem! :thumb:
I was gonna do this earlier today but had to go to class.
I also get a "Winter Discount" which means I am insured through them all year gets me cheaper insurance. Sweet. Texas rocks.
Damn.. that is sweet... I would think a winter discount would make more sense up here where you cant ride for 5 months of the year . Well I guess some people ride in the snow but not me :thumb:
I could almost make out the number... DAMN... I had Auto-Dialer plans for that!

I think I have it, but I'm not about to go calling. What if I'm wrong? I'll look like an idiot.
But what if I'm right? I'll be a complete jackass.
I just love to solve puzzles :)
