I found a set or racestands for $100 plus shipping. Do they work? I know the rear will, cause they have the generic paddles to hold the swingarm, but the front is trickier.
for $100 a set new you're probably looking at handy industries or something like that, no? Or redline stands (the ones I have) I think you can get a set for that much.

seem fine to me. no experience with them though. didnt someone here ask about them recently? or maybe it was on one of the other forums I go to...
seems like a good price for the pair. cheap looking wheels though. I never bothered with the front stand as I dont change my own tires or do fork work.
however, if I were to buy a new stand now, I would pony up the money and get a Pitbull stand. expensive but well worth it.
btw-when I was getting my rear stand I was freaked out about using it so my friend sent me this video he made of his. He has the same one I have.

:laugh: Pantablo you friend makes that look so easy. I kept thinking I was gonig to drop the bike when I first started useing the rear stand. Now I've gotten used to it but am still a bit nervous.
You have a centerstand so you don't need a rear race stand.
I you need to do something on the front just get a ratchet type tie down strap and attach
to handlebars and to a rafter in your garage.
It's a good idea to do this even if you use race stands.
Accidents do happen.
Umm no I do not have a centerstand, I removed it on the GS. Plus the gsxr's do not have a centerstand so a rear stand was needed when working on 4 bikes. Good idea about useing the rafters, but my garage doesn't have any will think of something else to help support the front end.

I too do not have a centerstand. Not evey bike does. The PO removed it.
I personally do not agree with the ratchet. IMO it would creat an unbalanced situation against how the bike wants to "fall" if you understand what I'm trying to say. So when you are wrenching, the weight isn't against the ground, it's up in the air, creating unstability(sp??).
Plus I don't have a garage either.
PitBull stands are some of the most stable stands made. I front stand I use goes under the steering head, so the bike "hangs" on the stand.
I have made several stands. Actually I am going to make another in a few minutes. The rear uses spools attached to the swingarm. I have drilled a hole on some swingarms but have started welding a boss on the bottom for the spools to attach. The front stands indexes in the holes under the bottom of the forks. Not as stable as under the steering head but good enough to support the bike while removing the wheel.
I do hang bikes from the rafters at times, but this is only when I work on the rear suspension or the triple clamps.

The stands I make require spools, so you would have to add them. Making pads for under the s/a is more involved and not something that I want to tackle.
