well the standed caliper works fine but im going through brake pads to fast i put some kevlar pads on about 2 months ago and the pad closest to the wheel is gone its just metal and it has started eating my front disc
so is there any other caliper that will fit on the gs500f with no mods?
thank you

No.
i have actually read most of your posts....
do you beat the living SH!T out of everything you own?
oh yeah, what D said....
+1 on Werase
stop riding your brakes like an old woman
Hi there,
Perhaps your caliper is dragging the pads.
Why don't you rebuild or replace it? Your pads should be holding up much longer than that.
I think the bike has a caliper problem with the piston not releasing all the way.
Let us know,
Todd
2 months ago .. ? you must be riding a whole lot or somtings not right with it . i have 13k (almost :) ) on my gs and i bought it new and have not touched the pads yet
Yeah...if what you say is true (who the hell knows anymore with you) your front brake seems to have some issues. I'd take it into the shop and have them make sure everything is kosher.

no not every thing just my bike
yer the pads rub on the disc all the time i thought that was normal
ok i just checked and last time i changed my front pads was july 19 so they lasted like 6 weeks -11 day because i was have work done on it so about 4 to 5 weeks
are you not ..... much of a auto person ? do you do the own brakes and stuff on your car ? its the same way .. do your brakes rub on your car ? if they do .. did you do it your self ? if you did get that heap to a shop and get your car and bike fixed .. if you think this is normal then you do not need to be working on your own bike . any thing you thing is wrong with it you need to take it to the shop and have it worked on dont touch it .
dude i dont have a car and i never have hell i dont even have a car licence and this is my first bike that i got just after christmas cut me some bloody slack ay since im new to this
so there not ment to be just touching the disc?
there ment to be floating just above the disc?
Yes, they may rub slightly but they wont "drag". If you can jack the front wheel off the ground (I'm not talking about a friggin wheelie dude...with a jack) give the front wheel a spin. It should continue to spin for a few revolutions at least. If it spins a little and stops right away...your caliper is hanging up.
I'm not joking here...TAKE IT TO A SHOP. No offense, but you don't seem like you have the skills necessary to work on such a critical and life threatening device. I know how you ride...and you need as much front brake as you can get. Take it to a bike shop.
Take it to a bike shop.
-Turd.
p.s. Take it to a bike shop.
we would probly cuz you some more slack but when you jump in here and say stuff like " i did it in a safe area 4 lane highway (rush hour traffic)" your not gonna get any slack for a while .. its ppl like you that make us look bad . yes i'v gone WOT on the highway but not in rush hour . or even if there was a chace that someone could slide over and take me out . its not worth it .
Yeah basically you have no idea what you're doing. Shop.
ok problem fixed i had way to much brake fluid like 10cc to much any who i changed the pads and there working really good now
(http://server3.uploadit.org/files/deathlucky-X7000140.JPG)
you know... up until I saw that picture, I was about to call BS..............
BS?
Too much fluid does not cause that problem. It is a only reservoir and not under any pressure. Too little fluid can be a problem when air is forced into the line. Too much fluid and it spills out when the lid is put on. Looks more like a stuck piston, probably dirt. Another possibility is an air bubble behind that piston and as it heats up it expands, pushing the piston against the pad into the rotor. Or just a hanging pad that is not retracting smoothly.
.... well how do i find out how do i fix that
Remove the caliper. Clean around the pistons and seals. Move the pistons in and out a little so see if there is any binding. It is a good idea to bleed the lines.
the pistons are clean but when i pushed them in the sounded abit off and when i pulled of the brakes 1 came out easer then the other
so can i rebuild the caliper and bleed the brakes with out any tools like all i have is 1/2 a socket set and a few screw drivers and the tols that came with my bike
so whta do i need to buy to do this thx
I am apprehensive to advise someone to rebuild the caliper. It may be a good idea to have a shop look at them.
Seal rebuild kits can be ordered. There are only 2 bolts that hold the caliper halves together but they are a pain to break free. A torque wrench is good to have when reassembling.
SHOP.
im to cheap oh well i will get the to do it when they service it next

...or just take the caliper apart and grease the slides. That'll help tremendously. O0
ok sweet what will i need
A repair manual is the first thing you NEED
then a set of half a$$ed metric tools
i got 1/2 a socket set and some screw drivers my bike tool kit  and a HAMMER
should i just try taking my pads off pulling the pisstons all they way out and spray the hell out of them with wd40 or is that just stupid
that is just stupid
If you have no clue....you better not touch the brake system
screwing with it, with fuked up sh!t tools, will probably make it worse
i thought you had a new ( abused ) but NEW bike....not under the warranty????
or do all the dealers know you beat the crap out of it and wont touch it....
I usually let threads like this pass, but I feel compelled to chime in here.
These are your FREAKING BRAKES!! They are THE device used to keep your @$$ off the asphault, and out of people's trunks.
Take off the caliper, bring it to a shop, and pay the bill to have them rebuilt. :thumb:
shop really hates me and they are so shaZam! i trust my self more then them so far they have
overfilled my oil
put way to much oil on my k&n air filter so much it dripped out my are box out let
striped the screws on the front of my fairing
given me my bike back with 10/10 of the engine mounts loose
given it back to me with loose handbars
given it back to me with the idle set at 2,500 rpm
given it back to me with blowen gaskets and didnt tell me
lied to me and been total pricks to me
so do you see why i dont really want to give it to them to stuff up again
so could i jsut spray the shaZam! out of them with WD40?
06 and you're already messing with your engine mounts? It might be time to park that bad boy for awhile
no its time for them idiots to do the job i pay them for
Dude.. there's 3 engine mounts.
well what every u call them things that hold the engine to the frame
any who i just pulled the pistons out of my brakes cleaned it all up cheacked the seals put them back it bleed my brakes covered the floor in fluid put them back on and they sem to be sweet we will find out tomorrow if you dont see me around here any more you will know why lol
ok i just went for a hoon the bike seems to handle better and have abit more power but the brakes are diffrent i have to pull the leaver in more to get the same stoping power would this be because there is air in the front brake or because the fluid i put in was crap it looked like apple juice or pee
dude - if i were you, i'd read up on bleeding brakes - sounds like you could now have air in your lines.....
pump, pump, pump 3rd time keep pressure slightly on whilst opening bleed valve.... keep doing this until there's no air and your leaver is pretty solid...
let it sit for 30mins and re-check..

I was referring to the three that you replace when you add case guards. I removed 3 bolts, replaced them with three longer bolts that hold the case guards on. They were the only ones I saw, I didn't go looking for more. Either way.. 3 or 5.. it's not ten.
actually it is 4....i was working on a FZR laast week and it had 5
guess i'm a dunb a$$ also
wrong info is wrong info
