wouldn't it take about an extra 45 seconds to actually check the tire pressure than whackin' it
and with checking the pressure, you'd know your tars were low
and with whackin' it.... your arm gets sore after a while

lmao. Instead of "whacking it" everytime u get on the bike, I can get, for whomever is interested, a special cap for your tire valves that monitors the air pressure and displays a either greeen (32 psi) yellow or red depending on the tire pressure. I had them on my car and they work really good, only once i guess I put it on wrong so the tire leaked air and it went flat. let me know if enough ppl are interested I can probably get them at a discount. cheers! :cheers:

I actually thought of such things when I saw them at auto zone. However, they explicitly say that they're not for use on motorcycles. My guess is that they're not sensitive enough seeing that a few pounds of pressure in a motorcycle tire makes such a big difference in the handling characteristics.
I have new tires, just two weeks old, set the pressures at 33, 36 the first day.
First week: 32, 35 acceptable they're breaking in.
Second week: 31, 33 - So the front looses 1psi per week and the rear looses 1.5
I guess I'll be checking my tires weekly, because 33 in the rear is unacceptable for commuting tire life. Now, for the twisties this weekend...

Pinch method: You can actually do a quick manual check of your tires' air pressure by holding the rim with both your hands and pushing your thumbs in (like a bicycle tire) a crude method yes, but with practice you can "feel" a gross estimate of the tire pressure and it will detect a flat tire for sure.

You can get visual monitoring caps for a few bucks at AutoZone. Why would you spend $600 for them? If you have a blowout, the replacement tire cost is likely to be the least of your worries.

Nope, didn't get new stems (had thought about it). New stems next time.
