Title: Mirror with a mind of its own...
Post by: jazerr on September 18, 2006, 10:28:00 AM
Yesterday I got on my bike, went through the routine of checking everything, make sure its all there and whatnot...my mirror is pointed wrong. So I fix it (figured I bumped it).

But, its the wind. The wind is moving my mirror inward so I have a great view of my chest. Is there anything I can do without having to buy a new one?

Do you have an F or a naked?

And what part is moving?  The whole stem or just the top mirror part?

If it's the black plastic mirror, superglue the stem-to-ball-joint in place overnight; it's not adjustable after that, but at least it wont move.

Grow boobs

Ok all sarcasm aside try the super glue trick.  I have seen a buddy of mine that rode an old CB550 that had the same problem and he did that and it worked.  He also duck taped a lot on that bike, including the exhaust

Just an idea, but could you put some dust into the ball joint?  Might make things not so smooth...

The '01 has the chrome mirrors...

My suggestion:  Get some 2nd Gen SV mirrors...  You can tighten those once you've adjusted them.   :thumb:

Was working down a farm last night doing some contract rolling and this farm is right on the outskirts of a big town so thus its a tip, burnt out cars the works. Anyways they have this ancient loadall and the ENTIRE steering column is duck taped together, i mean its broken away from the floor, its broken in half - the dash board even hangs loosly by its wires and the whole thing is only been held in place by the steering wheel tubey bit plus the tape, the gaffa got in there to move it out the way and it started falling apart so we just towed it lol, piece of rubbish but that duck tape prolly gave it an extra few months! good stuff.
